  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all - new G70 owner here. I searched, but did not find the answer to my question. Is there a way to have the car default to "custom" drive mode (or anything other than normal, for that matter) when I get into the car and start it up? I hate having to turn that drive mode knob every time. Is there a way to do this, and I just haven't found it?

thanks,

EPA regulations say the car must start in the mode that was used in testing, or better. Most will retain ECO but nothing else.

Darn... I just owned an Acura RDX before the G70, and that one stayed in whatever drive mode I last had it on.

How about the comfort settings (air conditioning, seat heating/ventilation, steering wheel heating)? Same thing? Everything defaults to off, and no way to have this automatically return to how it was when the car was shut off?

This drives be bonkers. EVERY time I get in the car it has rest the climate control to 72 and blowing on the windshield.

Please someone tell me/us how to fix that.

I'm surprised the climate control does not stay where set. Never had a car that did not. I go months and never touch it.

As for seats and steering wheel I only had one car that seats stayed on. Not sure of the reasoning, maybe high electrical load? Or the type of relay used to control it defaults to off?

Normally these would be software-controlled things, I'm just surprised there isn't an option or a "memory" setting to keep things as they were. My previous car - a 2021 RDX A-spec - had heated/cooled seats, but no heated steering wheel, and the seat climate options would stay as they are all the time. I rarely change them from max cooling, since I am in South Florida, lol.

And my AC settings (mode, temp) do stay at their previous settings, unlike the other user posted, but I have to check again if the on/off setting is retained. I have the habit of turning off the AC before I shut off any car, though, so that a cold start doesn't happen with the AC compressor on. Although some cars, like BMW, delay turning on the AC upon the engine start, to delay that load on the engine without you having to do it.

As Ed said, it’ll retain ECO, but I’m curious if you program the Custom mode to all ECO engine settings, if it would then retain it.

This would be less convenient if you’re trying to get it to retain sport mode engine and suspension but would be cool if it were able to differentiate between the EPA aspect. I imagine if it can retain Custom with Eco engine settings but everything else how you want it, there may be some more involved workarounds to get what you want. Probably just easier to twist the knob.

As for the saved convenience settings, my 2022 will hold all previous ride A/C settings on push to start, barring the recirculation setting which I find to be annoying (stinky cow pastures on my way to work every day). However, key fob remote start has a mind of its own and defaults to specific settings, which overrides anything going on when you last drove if I’m not mistaken. The Genesis app doesn’t offer a lot of customization on the remote start presets either which is a little disappointing but firmware updates could come one day.
