  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Automobile Mag- Four Seasons review (Suspension in focus)

Suspension issue is the most debated topic in this forum. If we take our focus away from ride quality and comfort and focus on ride motion and body motion many of us will come into agreement that the Genesis has more body motion than other luxury sedans. Ride quality is a subjective thing and it is hard to define what is comfortable and what isn't. Ride motion or body motion can be measured in a scientific way and no one can deny the results.
If we cannot come into agreement on ride comfort maybe we can become agreeable on ride motion.
Either way I love my Genesis just the same.

" appalling ride quality"

"the Genesis seemed incapable of absorbing the smallest road imperfection"

"The ride is very busy over bumps and harsh over expansion joints "

" the ride is very harsh for a luxury car. During my first weekend with the car I attributed the harsh ride to the weather, which was cold and snowy. But when ambient temperatures crested 40 degrees this past weekend, the poor ride became even more annoying and noticeable. Most luxury cars insulate you from road imperfections much better than the Genesis does"

"Hyundai Motor America's PR representative called and said they've heard complaints about ride quality in the Genesis not only from us but from other quarters, and they attribute it at least partly to the snow tires that we currently have on the car. They are anxious for us to swap them out for the summer rubber, and now that winter is just about over, we will do so."

Unfortunately the ride is harsh in Florida so tires are not the only problem. Seems like H listens to auto writers who complain but not consumers.

The Genesis is still on my list, but, the competition is stiff in this price range.

I have to agree that Hyuindai's handling of the suspension issue is very disappointing. "Operates as designed" is the term they use to quiet customers but as soon as the press gets on their case they call back. Let's hope that these articles will turn away enough buyers so that Hyundai corporate will feel it and starts to react ...

The funny thing about the Winter tires is that one forum meber reported his Winter tires provide a much better ride compared to the standard Dunlops. I wonder what tires they will switch.

Cheers

Thomas

Winter tires have much softer rubber compounds than regular tires, so that makes sense. The only exception might be if they were studded tires. There may be some small correlation between cold weather and the suspension issue, but even in warm weather the problems are still present.
