  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just purchased my genesis and I am curious as to how the input works for the system. I have already set up the USB capabilites with it (actually it works with my HTC touch pro in micro-drive mode, too!) and now I was reading the manual and see the video part of the input. I see only two inputs for the system one being the USB and the other the 3.5 audio jack. I am curious as to how the video input would be set up. How do I set up the system for video and audio input? I would assume I need a seprate cable then the one supplied for the iPOD, correct? Is the video only going to work with an iPOD?

The USB can read video but the quality is limited by the data rate supported by USB. I have used ipod and of course dvds....

OK, well, let me ask that differently... So, it will support video of the USB stick? What format does it have to be? Can there be any other files on the USB stick? And what I really am looking for is the input capabilities from another video source. Like composite to USB or something along those lines. For example, my phone has audio/video out support through a composite connection, would there be a way to adapt that to the genesis?

I'm looking for an answer to this very same question. Anyone has any ideas how to get this all done?

The round audio jack next to the USB port is actually audio+NTSC composite video. See my posts in this thread:
audio-video jack pinout and cable ideas

I've run a ATSC TV converter box into this jack - as a test in the garage only... and the audio+video output of my Canon digital camera drives this as well. Instead of trying to show folks pics on the camera's dinky screen, we can preview them in the comfort of the Genesis seats on the DIS screen.
