  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 Genesis 4.8, and i can’t get any media to show up when i am playing music through my aux cord or USB port. Is it possible to get my music to show up on the screen while it’s playing?

with the chelink adapter, does the song/artist/album informations shows in the dash?

No it's audio only, not like the factory iPod cable. It's the equivalent of a basic bluteooth speaker, and you set up the phone that way.

You still use the car's bluetooth phone interface for making calls.

Yea this was the biggest disappointment pretty much with my 14 genesis. If you plugged the phone into the usb/ipod port it would not charge and it would not read the phone. The navi screen would say “media error”

Through a lot of searching i find out that 1) Hyundai used to make their own flash cable that you had to use but has been discontinued for a long time. 2) An update corrected that and it worked for a bit but after a certain ios update people had no luck.

Now my car will bluetooth stream anything from my phone and it shows up on the navi screen, i can control it with the steering wheel or audio controls etc.. But streaming audio quality sucks and it annoyed me. Just yesterday i finally updated my navigation with the latest and greatest my car had the software version it came with in 2014 on it!!

I was told this could fix the issue and the phone would connect properly.. So like 4 hours and $145 bucks later media is all updated, brand new maps are in and guess what? Phone still does nothing when plugged in. I guess its stream only for us..

So even with an updated Nav system it won’t work with media? Is it possible to get Apple car play on a 2012 genesis?

No and no.

If you have an older (pre-lightning) iPod and the OEM ipod cable that came with the car, you can get media info on the screen and can charge the iPod when the car is running. Everything else just uses the audio jack for audio and the USB for power.

You can’t expect a ‘12 vehicle to have the features of a brand new one. Your USB port will play mp3’s very nicely. That’s how it was designed for the ‘12 year.

Likewise, your ‘12 will stream BT audio from your smartphone very nicely UNLESS you have the high-end Tech Package ‘12 Genesis with the control knob on the console. That model does NOT stream BT audio. The base and Premium ‘12 models DO stream BT audio. That hardware problem with the Tech Package models was corrected in ‘13.
