  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

US Market inquiry:
Well darn, I was hoping that the manual G70 would keep all the exterior things the rest of the G70 Sports models would get. I did really like the dark 5-spoke wheel design (I guess I could have passed on those) but it appears no dark colored grill either? Is this true, at least it looks that why on the build/buy site.

Sadly, seems true! Hopefully one will show up for sale somewhere soon and we can dissect the pics and window sticker.

^ based on everything i've seen and read, you are correct.

in CAD, the 6MT trim looks like this (yes, that is the dark chrome grille & trim, and pano sunroof):

^ That's the car I drove...but 3.3T Sport AWD :) Still love that blue. But too much for me.

It's kind of a lot, but for a 2.0T manual shopper--since we don't get the dark trim and wheels, I feel like you need a bold color [blue or red] to up the "sport" factor that way.

The Siberian Ice seems very cool, but I'd need to see it in person with the bright trim to decide how I feel about the pairing.

It seems they wanted to keep the 2.0T manual trim price down in the U.S., and I'm okay with most tradeoffs for that goal (since it still gets upgraded sound and ventilated seats), but I don't get why they nixed the dark 5-spokes and dark chrome.

It does suck that they didn't include the HUD (being a drivers car), AFS LED headlights (adaptive) and the bronze trim with the smoked taillights. The 10 spoke wheels still look pretty cool and honestly, unless I'm mistaken, a lot of enthusiasts will make posts to trade wheels when their cars are new. At least they do that in the VW world haha. Either way, I'm not upset on the wheels since I'd eventually get a square setup anyhow.

They stripped it of content to cheapen it and perhaps in their eyes tempt a larger audience. No other way to explain it. However, for ME personally they took the luxury out of a luxury car so I am no longer considering the 6MT G70. The perfect scenario would have been to take the AT 2.0T Sport and just offer it with the 6MT with no other content changes. But, I'm just a consumer and Genesis didn't ask me.. so what do I know??

Well, you either buy a perfectly optioned F30 3 Series or a 2018 A4 2.0T 6MT since neither the G20 3 Series nor the 2019 A4 can be had with a manual, period.

^ for a long time i was choked they went with the dark 5-spoke wheels for the 6MT Sport in CAD. i really like those 10-spoke machined rims. the autoshow circuit car had those and i loved them on first sight. very classy. if someone in my area wanted to trade i'd think on it.

after a month with the dark 5-spokes i'm not upset anymore, and i haven't seen any G70's with the 10-spokers since they only come on 1 trim in CAD i think - the 2.0T Prestige. the 6MT with the performance sport brake pads (only on the 6MT) dust A LOT, so the 5-spoke rims do a great job hiding that.

Oh interesting! And I know all about brake dust unfortunately haha. I run Carbotech XP8 track pads on the front of my GTI and literally after 50 miles, the wheels are dustier than my Mazda driving a few weeks. Picture attached for reference of the wheels (base Audi Q5 wheels).

This is true and I’ve said that it’s great that they will even offer a MT - doesn’t change the fact that this particular 6MT Genesis (a luxury brand) will cease being a luxury car the way it is packaged. Not even a close call. Since I was set on a fully optioned MT and now that is no longer possible with Genesis it opens the door to everything else. New S60 and new 3 series have had fantastic reviews and now I can shop other brands since I’ll be settling for an automatic trans

Thank you for those that replied. The seats are different too! I built the 2.0 Manual vs 3.3 Sport and the seats are missing that quilt/diamond pattern. *shakes head*

I very much wanted to get this car, I'm a bit less enthused by Genesis' choices when it comes to the manual.

I see a difference of opinion on the looks of the wheels. If I end up getting the car, perhaps I may be able to trade wheels with a 3.3 Sport owner.

I would have gotten the car hand's down (at a higher price/premium) if it was offered like "canucklehead604" has it shown.

I also wonder whether the picture in the builder is accurate--does the 2.0T six-speed get the grille applique? As in, it doesn't have the enhanced cruise features/radar/doesn't need it, right?
Except the manual spec car at the NH press event had it.

Update (of sorts): this 6MT in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada does NOT have the bumper applique for enhanced cruise etc. [Slightly used manager demo for sale for $41,500 CAD]

The youtube reviews I've seen of the U.S. market 2.0 6MT (from the press event back in July) have the grille applique, as well as the online builder as you mentioned. I could be wrong, but I think the applique may contribute to the Lane Keep Assist that is included on the U.S. market 6MT, but not available on the Canadian spec.

Oh that's a good question. I sure hope it doesn't since it doesn't have the adaptive cruise control. That piece is an eye sore for sure. I get it because their winged emblem is part of the hood and that's where a lot of automakers (Mazda and VW being two of them) integrate the ACC functionality.

Well, I found a pretty darn nice 2018 A4 2.0T Premium Plus 6MT. 28000 miles on it and they're asking $43k. I'm guessing this was a $50k+ car new, which is crazy when you think that you can get a 3.3T G70 for that. But yeah, that's a beautiful car.

That's a beaut of an A4, rare config loaded up like that with manual. Black optics package is cool.

Super rare. Ironically, I was following a black B9 A4 yesterday on my way into work (an automatic of course) but I really have always liked how the A4's looked, with the exception of the pre-facelifted B5's and B6's in general were ugly (S4's improved this quite a bit). At one point, I considered selling my GTI for a B7 A4 2.0T FSI Quattro Avant with the 6MT. Talk about a unicorn...

But yikes at European car pricing!

While it's been pretty clear that the manual will not get the Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC), I was holding out some hope that it might still include the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection (FCA). (I know some people don't care for these active safety features, but I appreciate them.) It would make sense since the reason to omit SCC on manuals is so the engine doesn't stall as the car decelerates. However, engine stalling is not a concern in an emergency braking situation.

Well, based on the 10/25 pricing press release, it looks like the US 6MT may actually get FCA. The 2.0T Advanced trim feature list shows SCC and FCA as two separate line items. The 6M/T Sport trim feature list starts with the content of the 2.0T Advanced and specifically "Deletes: Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC)," but makes no mention of FCA. It's a similar situation in the brochure I picked up at a dealer last week, where SCC is noted as A/T Only, but no such distinction is made for FCA.
2019 GENESIS G70 - PRICING

^ yeah, all the photos of US spec 6MT trims show the little cover plate on the front grille that belongs to some of the techy stuff like FCA. CAD does not get this feature with the 6MT trim. 6MT definitely deletes SCC and auto start/stop - but that's good news in my books.
