  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

With 1400 miles on the clock I'm averaging about 14 in mostly city driving but not stop and go. What are others getting? Was hoping for 16 18

For the last 3K miles I have averaged 25MPG. Most of my driving is on rural roads and very little traffic.

I wouldn't expect the OP's Equus to do as well as your Genny 3.8.

Getting 18 - 19 mpg straight city driving, up to 24 pure highway, 20 mixed. Houston traffic commuting. 13,500 miles. Regular unleaded.

Good fuel economy for a car this size. Hope that helps.

2011 Equus, 1500 miles. Best has been 24 MPG, worst has been just under 22 MPG, both mixed city/hwy. Those numbers are with easy break-in driving.

Does the 2012 Equus (5.0L) require only premium fuel, or is regular an option?

Why worry about gas mileage when you buy a car that cost 40k, 50k or 60k+? I don't get it. A honda fit or Hyundai Accent will get great mpg., Just get two or three of these instead.

Anyone and everyone should care about gas mileage, for a variety of reasons.

You don't say if you have the 4.6 or the 5.0, but, but if my 4.6 Genesis Sedan gets 15-17 (real not computer reported), in city only driving (slight heavy foot).

The heavier Equus is going to give up 1/2 MPG, so 13-16 seems right to me.

I average 19-20 in combination of bumper to bumper and truly freeway driving

I am getting around 15-16 in town but I am an aggressive driver. On the highway with cruise set to 75 I was getting 20

@MercedesOwner - I know what you mean, the only reason I care about my mpg is because I too, hate filling up. That seems to be the expensive part of buying fuel.

+1

My cousin's car is dead. He was getting 10 mpg LOWER than advertised (it was a Jeep, in case you were wondering). Regardless... not only was that an issue, but there was an underlying issue that was worse - it was burning oil worse than it was burning gas. No oil in engine = dead engine.

3 month old car.

Worlds OLDEST POST. My 2011 has 40,000 miles and I drive a lot on highways without too much traffic. this huge V8, 7 years old, still gets me almost 28mpg highway. My new 2016 with 4000 miles does NOT get that good mileage. Makes no sense. I love the old Ultimate more than the new one. I also had a 2014 I traded in for the 2016 because I hated NO video in the back seat of the new ultimate.

I have 116,000 on my 2011 with the 4.6, I'm a fairly aggressive driver that uses a lot of common sense in traffic...why be in a hurry to go no where, but you give me an open road and I'm gone. I still avg 28 mpg with the cruise set at 80...but of course if I crank it up to over 100+ it drops a bit but then recovers again with more realistic speeds.

14 in pure city.... 24-25 on the road. 2015 Signature with 45k miles. Just a bit disappointed in the city number.

My average mixed city/hwy is 19-22...but I stay clear of the city as much as possible. I don't like to touch the brakes...and I use the cruise a lot.
