  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Awaiting purchase of new g70 3.3t sport in March. But I am struggling with the fact there is no dealer for warranty or service for 400.mi.

I have been told that my local hyundai or Kia dealer which we have here in the town that I live in may not do service or warranty work on my car that it must go to a stand alone dealer the closest being 427 mi. Away does anyone have the same issue.

I know there was some dust up when Genesis became its own brand. Hyundai franchises were no longer permitted to sell Genesis cars unless they paid for the rights. If your local dealer is not an approved Genesis franchise holder, they may not be able to do warranty work. I don't know whatever became of this. I think there was even a lawsuit last year.

I just bought a CPO 2019 G70 with 3500 miles from a Hyundai dealer; however, I notice they also advertise as a Genesis dealer. Nearly all of the Genesis dealers in my are (STL) are just Hyundai dealers. I've not seen any Genesis only showrooms around here.

So you may see if there are any Hyundai dealers closer to you that also are Genesis dealers.

You can also call the Genesis Concierge service and see if they can help.

Minneapolis MN is the closest genesis dealer it is 427 MI. One way. I am going to purchase on Colorado Springs as my dad lives near there and we have done business with them. They told me the the dealer in MN would drive one way 150mi.to pick up the car and give me a loaner but that I am responsible for any additional mileage. As of yet I have not gotten any reassurance of what happens if the car is undriveable.

As awesome as the G70 is, I would not have bought one if I did not have easy access to a dealer

Well I'm trying to get as much info as possible to make that decision by the first week in Feb when the new purchase incentives are released by genesis.

St cloud 331 MI

Yes st. Cloud MN is the closest 400mi

Western Minnesota, N and S Dakota, Eastern Montana and Wyoming are dead spots for several manufacturers. My previous car was a Volvo and I anticipated driving from MplStP west and thought several times about the decision since there was no dealer. Volvo said if there were trouble call them and they would "advise". I did not make the trip which was for pleasure.

There seems to be much confusion amongst the genesis kia and Hyundai dealers them selves I keep getting different answers to the same question. I am approaching the decision as if I expect to be on my own if there is a problem I can get service here just not warranty or recall stuff done everything will be out of pocket

There is an Unassigned Genesis Brand Owner program that you can use where participating Hyundai dealers can perform routine maintenance as well as warranty work and be reimbursed by Genesis. The link below has some information regarding it but it has been awhile since I got that information. You should contact Genesis to get the latest on the program.

If a regular Hyundai dealer gets permission to perform work on Genesis, my fear would be do they know what they are doing? Before I bought my G70 while test driving, I always inquired about Genesis service and was always told the Hyundai dealer (authorized Genesis dealer) had several techs who were trained on Genesis and only those techs would perform work. The regular Hyundai techs would not work on Genesis.

I certainly wouldn't take it to them for anything other than routine maintenance but that may be overly pessimistic. One of the reasons I gave up on Genesis was because the closest dealer to me was 70 miles away.

Is there any Hyundai brand vehicle sold in the USA with the 3.3T ? If not, I would definitely not take a V6 G70 to a Hyundai only dealer. Engines these days are quite complex and particular, compared to how they used to be. Taking a G70 2.0T may be less risky, as it's an engine used in Hyundai vehicles sold here.

You may end up towing the car for 427 miles. If it was out of pocket, around here that is a $2K proposition.
