I just want to let everybody know about a stellar, super convenient location to keep your cell phone when you're driving.
If you have a large phone or tablet I'm sure you have discovered that the little "cubby hole" in the lower right side of the dash isn't quite big enough to fit an oversized phone or tablet worth a damn. And putting the phone on the passenger seat or in a cup holder doesn't work that well, it slides around on the seat and takes up the place of a cup in cup holder.
Good news! When you open up the flap that covers your cup holders it creates a small gap between that cup holder flap and the center console. Said gap is the perfect location for an oversized phone or two, or a tablet even.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note II and it fits in this gap awesomely. This location is also very close to the USB/Aux cords in the glove box so you don't have to have 30,000 feet of cord roaming about the cabin enveloping your children and belongings. Your phone won't move around at all when it's in the gap either, no matter how spirited your driving. It's also really easy to reach your phone when it's in the gap, you don't even have to take your arm off the console. Don't worry about your phone disappearing down under the center console somewhere, the gap that the phone slides into is curved at the bottom in such a way that you'd have to try to make your phone get stuck.
The only drawback to this spot is that it doesn't work well if you want to see your screen for navigating or something like that. A rubber band through the air vent and around your phone is still the best cheap method for that. It also won't work well if you have a small phone because your phone will sit too far down in the gap and will be annoying to get out. So I guess there are two drawbacks.
I was originally sad that there want a good spot to keep my phone but now that I have discovered this gap I am much happier.
Where do you guys usually keep your phones?
