  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sat in the back seat and it appears to me that the majority of the sound is coming from the front seat speakers. Very little sound from back seat speakers. Has anyone else noticed this problem? I assume there is something wrong with my sound system. Also tried hooking up an Ipod with apple cable and it did not work. screen said "loading error". Any input is appreciated - 3. with premium plus package.

Have you checked the fader controls on the radio itself (controls front-to-rear audio balance)? Before you decide that there is a problem, check out that function.

While you're there, check L/R audio balance, EQ position (either pre-set, or custom--accessible via the "Tone" selection).

If you still have balance issues after checking out the system, you may in fact have some kind of problem that requires a dealer's service dept. involvement.

Dan

PS: I can't address the Ipod issue--I don't have one!

A high-end auto sound system is designed to have most of the sound coming from the front, just as it would in a listening room or a concert hall. That is not easy to do in an automobile, especially for the people sitting in the rear. There is usually a subwoofer in the rear, but low bass sounds are non-directional.

I could be wrong about this, but I thought someone in this forum said they had to purchase a special iPod cable from Hyundai. But you should be able to use the AUX port with your iPod (but you will have to run your iPod on its own battery or plug it in an adpater into the 12V outlet to power the iPod).

You DO need the iPod cable. $29.95 @ the dealer. On my fader control, I set the bar just behind the front seat line and that seems to provide optimal sound from all speakers.

I don't know if it's just because it was a Canadian model but my genesis came with a free iPod cable in the glove compartment. FWIW

When I picked up new 4.6 last Friday I also purchased from the parts department the $30 iPod cable. It's designed for the newer style iPods that have the elongated plug-in jack, not the older single-pin jack. When plugged into the center console, all of your playlists, songs, albums, genres, etc. show up on the screen on the car's dash. It's pretty slick as you are able to control the iPod using the big knob on the center console. If Canadian models come with a complimentary iPod cable, score one for our neighbors to the north.

I did see one review where they claimed that the iPod cable as included. Also I don't see any mention in the owners manual that it needs to be purchased, so maybe someone should check on this. But maybe it depends on the trim level.
