  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all. I have a 2013 Rspec and I'm not impressed with the quality of the back up camera. I keep the camera clean at all times but it seems it's just not that clear. The camera on my 2012 TL SHAWD was much better. Anyone else have the same feeling?. Anyone know if the new Genesii have a different camera or resolution specs?

I have 2009 4.6 tech and 2013 R-Spec and find that the 2009 camera image is much cleaner, not sure what tweaked, but the image is worse on 2013 model especially at night. This comparison is consistent with previous reports:

The image did get better after replacing the backup lights with LEDs.

The camera on my 2010 4.6 is blurry. The rest of the screen, menus, maps, etc are remarkably sharp particularly since the screen is generally sharper and larger than a lot of newer cars. I didn't buy the car new so I figured the camera lens had faded from exposure over the years. I would love to replace it if I could.

No issues with my 2012 R-spec backup camera. Clear picture.

At night, mine is not very clear and looks like static or lose connection (horizontal lines flickering). In the daytime, works pretty good/clear.

Funny thing is I think it used to be clearer at night than what it has been doing the past 6 months. Dealer found nothing wrong with it recently, but not really sure how much time they spent on it. When I hit 95K mi or so I will make sure this gets a thorough examination before my extended warranty is up.

Be sure both of your backup lights are working.

mine looks great, i did upgrade the license plate lights with LEDs though.

^+1, Agreed, upgrading the license plate and the reverse lights to bright LEDs makes a huge difference in the video quality when the reverse camera is used at night.
