  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have 2012, V8, 4.6 Genesis that is still under warranty.

I have the 10 year Hyundai Platinum protection plan. I called Hyundai Protection office about the Back up Camera Screen flickering on and off some times and they said it is one of the items not covered by the warranty.

They pointed me to the Exclusions From Coverage section, item 14. In it, it says "Near object avoidance systems and all laser radar cruise control components". Does this mean the back up Camera?

I got a quote of $460 for the Camera and $395 for Labor from the dealer. To me this sound a bit to high.

Has any one fix or replaced their back camera. any help would be appreciate.

Suggest you get a quote from a local auto audio shop. These days they handle problems like this.

That’s very creative contract language on Hyundai’s part. I’m afraid they have you by the testosterones.

Does any know a mechanic in Thousand Oaks, Cailf. that works on Hyundai Genesis. I need my back up camera replaced?

Hello Marty. I have 2013 Genesis 3.8 (sedan). Having similar issue like yours. My display flickering and also my radio plays only about 10 second after turning on and then it go off. At the dealership they told me that I have problem with Radiohead or something like that, and that I have to replace it. I found used one on eBay for $200, and will replace it next week in local radio shop master. Will definitely update you with result.

I did, there was a guy that showed how to Remove and replace the new camera. It's a little bit to involved, for me. I found an Electronic place that was willing to order the camera from South Korea, and install it for around $500, $250 for the camera and $250 labor. That better than $770 from the dealer with 10% discount, and $648 from my local mechanic.

Take the camera apart carefully, clean the corrosion inside and re assemble. Usually does the trick.

I believe the camera is a sealed unit. Can not be taken a part.

I do have a brand new rear camera for my 2015. Used-car dealer bought it thinking it was fried. It turned out to be the harness in my trunk. I dont know if itll work for older gens but if it does ill be willing to let it go for under msrp.

2012 and 2013 use a different type of camera. Thanks any way.
