Back up camera

Anyone have problems with back up cam not displaying lines when you start your car and immediately put it in reverse? This is very annoying on other cars like 2019 elantra im deiving for rental car does not do this but in my 2015 genesis the back up camera will show up without any lines and about 5sec or more later screen will go black and come back on with lines.

If it is within warranty, take it to your dealer and tell them what is going on. That isn't normal operation and they should replace the camera. Don't take no for an answer. If your out of warranty, the camera is about $160 plus labor. Good luck.

The lines are all generated by the Windows half of the head unit. When you jump into reverse before the system resumes from sleep, you're basically getting video feed minus overlay. The Android half of the system handles the screen switching and this causes the momentary black screen as it merges the overlay and video.

Control Function
This system supports 3 kinds of main function. (Rear video display function, Expected trace of wheels display function, Parking guide function)
The Rear video display and the expected trace of wheels display operate according to Vehicle speed condition and Gear position.
Rear View Monitoring Function

The PGS supplies power to Rear Camera(@Speed ≤ 30KPH, Rear view mode). It is to prevent delay time that causes switching process from Front Camera to Rear Camera, or vice versa.
The Rear Video comes out when the gear changes to R position in the ready state. The Rear Video is not related to speed of vehicle. Following the OPTION, The Guide line with the wheel angle and(or) Neutrality guide line are overlaid on Rear Video image.
