  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This may be on here someplace, but I can't find it. The left backup light is not working on my 2015 3.8 sedan. Is the bulb just replaceable, or do you need to replace the whole unit?
Thanks,
Ted

The reverse strip is integrated with the turn signal. Is part of the turn signal out too?

Thanks for your reply.
No, turn signal works. Reverse does not.
You may have a wiring issue instead of a burnt out light. May take some digging to find though as reverse is on the trunk lid and may be frayed a bit on the hinge.

Thank you again! Between this and the turn signal bulb issues, I may need to trade this car in. Too bad, because I love it, but with under 30K on it, I see more issues coming down the road.
Thanks again,
Ted

I'm beginning to think that there's some sort of electrical defect in the 2015 models. I replaced my front turn signal bulbs about half a year ago and they are already burned out. And I've driven less than 5,000 miles in 2020! I may go for LED bulbs this time around to see if that can help.

Though some on this forum have disagreed with me, I have always felt that the turn signal bulb issue is a safety issue and should have been subject to a recall. I would go with LED bulbs, but I'm afraid that if I have a warranty issue, that the warranty company would find a way to not pay any future claims because I altered the factory equipment.
After buying cars for almost 60 years, I should have known better than to buy a car from the first year of a new generation. I'll try to remember next time!

I have exactly the same problem, except it is the reverse bulb on the passenger side. I went so far as to replace the entire taillight (the part that mounts in the trunk lid), but still that one bulb does not work. So, that points to wiring or a fuse I suppose.

Thanks for that info.

Sounds like this is the problem.

I have given up. Traded my low mileage Genesis in on a Lincoln. Totally ridiculous that a premier marque car has such a problem with turn signal/day light driving lights and Hyundai will do nothing as far as a recall. I should have known better than to buy a car of the first year of a new generation. For all of you that can change these bulbs yourself, good for you. At 70 plus years of age, my days of working on cars are over! I really loved this car and that is why I bought it. I will miss it, but not the issues. I want to thank everyone here that helped me and listened to my issues. Good luck to everyone!

I agree with you that Hyundai should own up to this problem.
I see just on this site that many cars have this problem.
I would probably have sold my car had I paid for the repair out of pocket.
Fortunately the aftermarket warranty covered it. Hopefully there won't be a next time.
If so, they can fix it again. I only have 44k on it, and it's still a nice car to drive.
Good luck with your Lincoln.

Thank you and good luck to you too!
Ted

Can't say I blame ya, hope you have better luck with the Lincoln. I'm about one more electrical problem away from dumping mine, but knock on wood hasn't been a problem since the harness replacement 10 months ago.

Next time will probably just get a Lexus or Acura.

That is not the first time I've heard of people having this problem. It is most likely a manufacturing defect. The new models no longer have this problem, so indeed, the manufacturers have taken their mistake into account and corrected it. In general, I have noticed an exciting trend: the newer the cars and the technology used in them, the more often they break down. Probably, it is made on purpose that the person buys new cars more often, but I consider it unfair. I am a follower of old technology, but I try to keep up with the progress. So I recently learned about the existence of the smart bulb and decided to buy one for my home. It's a funny thing that my kids like.

I thought the same for a coupe I just bought. The driver side has no backup light. Instead it's the bright light that you turn on when it is foggy. Bought 2 lights then found this out.
