If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings,
Has anyone had problems with here brake rotors warping?
My 2015 Genesis Ultimate has been sitting at the dealer for five days short
of a month. The story goes: I drove the car from Ohio to Florida. The vehicle
was driven for a week afterward with no problems. I left it in my garage
while I flew back to Ohio to rent a truck to bring the rest of my belongings.
About two weeks later, I arrived only to find the vehicle had some major problems. The very next morning I took it to the dealer who was very courteous. Long story short all 4 rotors had warped, and I am still waiting on the rears. The car has 7,125 miles! Something is going on that's not being
let out! Anyone comment?

Thanks

That is strange. If they were not warped when you parked it, but were warped the next time you drove it, something is fishy here. Did anyone else drive your car while you were gone?

If it drove all the way from OH to FL without any trouble and you left it there only to come back later and find "all kinds of issues" including warped brakes - then whoever you left your keys with had a whole lot of fun while you were gone.

Had the brakes (or anything else) had problems - you would have felt & noticed it in the ~900+ miles you drove in between.

+1 My thoughts exactly.

Sorry Guys, but no one had access as the keys were locked up in my Liberty
Presidential Safe along with keys to my 08 RR Sport Supercharged 23000 mi.
And my wife's 07 Mercedes CLK 350 Convertible 47000 mi. No one (except a trusted neighbor) even has access to the house as I have been commuting for the last four years, every month. And only myself ,wife and son have access to the safe. Both of which live out of state. Hopefully, now you will understand.

Yes, there are several other threads and lot of other posts on this subject. You are not the only one.

Oh, and in response : In confidence I was told that one of the same model
in the 2 wheel drive configuration on the lot (unsold) had suffered the same problem. Perhaps that is why the rotors are so unavailable. Just a thought!
I had been extremely pleased on the 1001 mi. trip. Fuel usage, performance,
and comfort were all great. I replaced about a half a quart of oil, but all was good. Thanks for all your input, and I understand how hard this is to believe.
but just wait!

I had same issue with mine and dealer resurfaced the rotors.
At first I did not noticed until I had hard braking from high speed and felt vibration.
It's all good now.
That reminded me when I bought a brand new Honda Odyssey 5 years ago and had same issue and had rotors resurfaced from the dealer.

He is if we are talking about a car that was just sitting there after having been driven across the country and not exhibiting the issue.

I have the same problem with my 2016 Tech, when applying the brakes the car vibrate, I feel it the most on the steering wheel but on the brake pedal too, the car is just just 6 days old (200 miles) and Now I'm sitting at my dealer's Service department, they are testing the car right now.

:mad:Ok guys, never mind how it happened. Can anyone tell me why there is such a wait
on rotors? Maybe they are coming on the slow boat from China. I was told that the dealer
had been promised a pair from Detroit, the only place that had a pair ( both left and right)
on 4/12 which was changed without explanation other than they must have been promised to someone else. Then the date was 4/18. Are these rotors made in China?
Enjoy the weekend. Thank goodness I have my Rover.

You should have had the dealer resurface the existing rotors so you could drive the car while you were waiting for the new ones to arrive.

I'd hate to be waiting to drive my car that long.

I had my rotors resurfaced today. My car has just 100 miles and was vibrating when braking. They took out 0.015mm on both front rotors and 0.001mm on the back ones. The car now brakes smoothly. The whole process took about 3 hours. I really don't care about not changing the rotors because is a lease and I will be returning the car in less than three years or 36K miles, way before the rotors get worn out.

As of today, according to the dealer. there are only (2) rotors available for this vehicle in the entire country! My vehicle has been sitting at the dealer for a month! Hyundai I know you monitor these forums...time to speak up!

had the same issue, drove 100 miles, car sat 3 weeks and when driving back felt the same thing

Thanks all. I got it back today and all I can say is I'll be so very glad when the lease is
up!

So they didn't resolve the issue?

Yes, The problem has been resolved after replacing all four rotors. It now
rides like new. If the manufacturer would just step up and say " Hey we got a bad batch of rotors, we will do everything to make it right". This I could easily accept. My problem is the crickets...

So then why so glad when the lease is up?

Do they make Brembo blanks for our cars? At this point I would just tell the dealer that you have a better source and that you now demand he install your part on your car, since they are apparently incapable of managing a supportive supply chain. I might do those and some Hawk pads to dump these rotors, since they're apparently junk.

I had brembo blanks before slotted/dimpled rotors on one of the cars I tracked, I tended to not get into the brakes until pretty late in the zone (which caused much faster heat buildup on the rotors) and never had a problem with warping, cracking, etc.
