Bad power steering pump or bad rack question

Autozone Seafoam be sure to get the Transtune not the regular one ...I used a turkey baster to suck out the power steering fluid then filled it with the Transtune...turned the wheel from lock to lock about 30 times then let it sit for 15 minutes used the turkey baster to suck out the Transtune...add OEM power steering fluid .... Good luck!
Thanks J I hope this saves me some unnecessary expense of replacing the rack I can feel the pulse in my EHPS pump at idle The Vehicle will do the lock to lock thing smoothly only with front wheels on jack stands at the moment but will not turn an inch with all 4wheels dropped on the ground I don't have any fluids leaks and the lines look excellent as a matter of fact the whole steering rack system in factory like condition Am head to Autozone I was skeptical about that Trans Tune on a 2013 Genesis 5.0 R Spec V8 Sedan with an EHPS pump that uses Pentison CHF-202 fluid
 
Hey J I did all that with that seafoam trans tune deal lock to lock 40X front tires jacked up in the air unfortunately it didn't work once I dropped all 4 tires on the ground I flushed all that old fluid out by disconnecting the return hose. Connected hose then put the whole can of seafoam trans tune I think my rack is distorted I may have to replace it
 
Well guess what... mine stopped working AGAIN!! yesterday morning but this time I have fluid leaking from somewhere ( hopefully a hose ) I have the EHPS to and as you know that CHF 202 isn't cheap... I'm going to pull out the airbox and headlight again and see if I can see the leak someone mentioned that they had a problem with the hose leaking at the clamp... sorry the Seafoam didn't work...let me know if you change the rack and how difficult it is

I am sorry to hear that J Yes that CHF 202 not cheap If you find a leak in a hose that's an easy fix. Just change the hose. Shopping around Ebay or Junkyard I wish it was just a leak on my end. I don't have any leaks. Am rent a Kia/Hyundai Power Steering Pressure Guage even though I know my EHPS pump has a pulse and check the numbers before I change my rack. I just got another rack in. Replacement Rack must have the same exact part number like previous for example mine calls for 57700-3M781 not 57700-3M780 Keep in mind the rack part number if you decide to change one. I will update you on mine soon once I install the rack myself I have the shop manual I am sick and tired of paying the dealership and mechanics. Good Luck

I pulled the airbox , headlight and the corner of the bumper...no hose's are leaking the fluid is backing up from the reservoir leading me to believe air is in the line...tried turning the wheel with the cap off to get the air out but it's still hard as a rock..my last attempt will be to remove the high pressure hose and bleed it again ... keep me posted on how you make out

Absolutely I will keep you posted On the other hand The things you are about to do I already did all that Am so frustrated I will be changing my pressure lines plus my whole rack and pinion myself by Friday I have a pulse in my EHPS pump The only thing I wish I had to be set would be that Kia/Hyundai Power Steering Pressure Guage to check pulse pressure Almost all things can be done on your own without spending a fortune at the dealership Just take your time

I finally got my EHPS power steering issue resolved after purchasing two EHPS pumps and a good rack from Ebay for absolutely nothing No reason to even purchase all that. All along the strange problem was in my face while I was running around purchasing irrelevant parts. Come to find out it was just the wiring harness plug that functions as a speed actuator to the EHPS pump Imagine that

Wow so what was the issue with the wiring? I'm going to pressurize the the line tomorrow to see if I see any leaks but now I want to take a look at the wiring your talking about...did you have to replace it..what made it stop working?

The plug was damaged from a previous minor collision on the front passenger side nevertheless it was not noticeable A very strange thing that took me 10 weeks to figure that out. I am trying to figure out what I will do with 2 beautiful fully functional like new EHPS pumps and this clean rack and pinion I went to the junk yard and got a new like actuator plug. Everything working beautiful now in full speed. I didn't have any leaks All steering system looks like new

Glad to hear everything worked out for you..not sure if we share the same parts I have 2011 4.6 but if they do I may be able to take them off your hands depending on what I find out tomorrow ...I know if felt good to have power steering again 😁

Hell ya It did feel good man Thanks I love my Genny that's why I nave 2 of them but I may have to pursue a 14 I am learning new information on that 14 R Spec V8 Sedan

Oh well another failed attempt ...if you want to part with one of your pumps let me know how much you want. I think I will try one last time but this time I will make sure I bleed the line

Am sorry to hear that man What exactly happened?? Do you have any type of leaks??? If no Is the EHPS pump really pumping??? If it is you should be able to feel the stream going through like a fuel injection stream by placing your hand or holding the high pressure hose. A very powerful stream not a pulse Did you check your electrical connectors and make sure that they are fully inserted in the EHPS pump sockets?? Exert pressure on the EHPS pump speed actuator plug(with the 3wires)into socket Also check the wiring

Does your EHPS pump look like this???? Two wired power plug and socket to the left. ECU, Motor and Gear actuator plug(with 3 wires)and socket to the right Let me know whatever I can do to help

I put a bleeder pump on it and the pressure never dropped so it doesn't look like I have a leak anywhere..I'm going to use your suggestions later this morning when I get home...as for the pump it looks the same but I'm not sure if it will work due to yours having the 8AT onthe pump ...2011 4.6 has the 6 speed AT ...I'm going to look up the part numbers ..what has me confused is after changing the pump it worked fine then after it stopped I used the trans tune and it started working again ..if it was a connection issue it wouldn't work regardless what I did

Man this shit got me so frustrated, I took a break from it , I've been driving my wife's Tuscan ...I'm just going to bite the bullet and put it in the shop and let them figure it out...thiers a local garage a few blocks from my house

Did you check to make sure that the EHPS pump was streaming fluid at high pressure like I had suggested?

You can do it J I did it even though it took me a while You just have to be patient and follow steps: 1. Check Electric Power Connectors for power with prob Make sure that they are not damaged or corroded and can be fully inserted in EHPS pump sockets 2. Check lines and pressure at high pressure terminal Make sure No kinked lines No leaks or damaged hoses 3. Next step will be that rack and pinion It's actually easy to install if it's distorted but I hope that you don't have to go that far Ask Gunkk for the Factory Repair Manual Steering System Page
