  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello All,
Don't quite know what to say as I have a very strange situation.
I replaced a broken under cover front panel on a 2011 Gennie 4-door the other day.

Part # 29120-3M000. The part I received was an exact replacement from Hyundai as I laid the two side by side and they're identical.

Problem is that it seems there are only two threaded holes for the 4 screws I removed. Two screws went right in on the rear-most portion of the cover. But all of the other holes in the cover have no corresponding threaded places for them. As I crawled under there to look, there's nothing above any of the other recesses in the cover where the screws go.

I resorted to duct tape to hold up the front edge of the cover. Several pieces of tape along the bottom edge of the front bumper cover are holding it up for now.
What am I missing here? Were the other two screws just being held in place by the plastic cover itself?

Thanks in advance for any help/ideas...

So you are saying there 4 holes in the cover and 4 bolts, but only two holes in the chassis to screw the bolts into?

Here is a pic of part:

What's most puzzling is that I can see on the original part where the screw heads had shined up the plastic a bit where they had gone through.

But "above" those two holes (they're closer to the front of the vehicle) there simply is no threaded hole!

What am I missing here!? I'll admit I've never worked on a Hyundai before, but I've been a mechanic most of my life and this one's got the best of me...
