  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I got a "present" from Hyundai yesterday. It was a nice ball point pen in a fancy box and a fancy plastic business card with my name, VIN number, and roadside assist phone numbers.

If it's the kinda chunky pen that says GENESIS on the side - it is most definitely a first rate pen.

It's a decent pen, but I did find it strange that they did not use the right font for "Genesis" - not a biggie, but odd they'd miss that little detail?

They must have mailed them out en masse since it seems more than one got the little black box in the mail on the same day (yesterday). I recall getting my first "care package" from Saab back in 1986 containing a number of trinkets and logo-swag... and similar stuff from both Acura and Infiniti over the years with the purchase or lease of each new car. I guess it's a way for the manufacturer to establish "brand loyalty" without having to know the owners' genders and/or sizes for something one would wear.

It's nice that they do this, and I'm sure that Mercedes, Audi, Lexus and other premium brands do similar things for their buyers. Personally, I find the folder for the owner's manuals to be much more useful. OTOH, the black box looks like another marketing opportunity to get or keep people enrolled in Hyundai's Bluelink program, which I prefer not to subscribe to for cost and functionality considerations. I never renewed Sirius/XM or OnStar either. YMMV, and I fault no-one for subscribing, it's just my preference to not waste my $$ on something I don't want or need.

I want one :( if it has anything to do w the dealership, I doubt I will get one, or maybe I will in a year and a half and it will be used and empty.... yes, you are sensing sarcasm. I went from wanting to tell it on the mountain about my "wonderful" dealership experience to, in under 21 days, realizing, nope, all dealerships are the same, and they generally suck, it's just a question of how overtly.

I think the font they used is the same as they're using for Genesis Motors. Check the website and see what you think

I haven't checked the mail in a week. I guess I should do that tonight. LOL.

I think a folder for out owner's manual would be more like a suitcase! :D

I never got one after I bought the 2015, but got one a few weeks after I picked up the 2016 and then got a $100 Visa gift card a few weeks later!

Must be nice. I wanna say I saw someone complaining about N Freeway Hyundai the other day, I bought mine from one in that group, oh well, neither here nor there. I love my car, everything about it, well, maybe 99%, a pen won't enhance or detract from that, but it would be nice to have that swag, the hyundai pen in the glove box pen holder, pretty smooth.

Here's the funny part - the pen is too fat to fit into the glove box pen holder - that's the first thing I tried after getting my box in the mail.

It does fit into the in the armrest storage area though ...

Yes, it is too fat.

BTW, did any of you get an Equus wine stopper a few years back? I gave mine to my rich brother who has an Equus and drinks a lot of wine.

@Lord Humunculous: Complain about N Freeway? That is probably me.

Yeah, I got one too. My pen had a nice little "made in China" sticker on it.

Honestly, they can keep their little gifts in exchange for a car that isn't always in the shop. Although, the card with the roadside assistance number on it will undoubtedly come in handy for me. I've already called them three times in the last four months.

I got the pen thing a few months ago. I tried to snap it into the pen holder in the glove box but when I let go it snapped out and dove right under the passenger seat. Oh well.

I got a $100 gift card from Hyundai a while back, that was nice! They suggested I use it to buy Genesis branded doo-dads from their store, but I never understood how they can ask for money for me to wear advertisements for them. You can bet those NASCAR drivers get paid for each patch on their outfits, not the other way around.

Instead I used it to help buy a solid state drive for my computer.

No pens for me. :( Damn.

True, Lord....leased my loaded Genny's a year ago today....still love it......got my p n last year and while I hardly ever use it in the car, it would have been nice if it were sized to fit in that clip in the glove box.....instead, it's sitting in the tray in the console box. Looking forward to all the positive tweaks in the 2018 models....

When I bought my G2 there was a pen included in the nice carrying case for the Owener's Manual. That pen will also fit in the clip on the glove box door.

I also received the fatter pen in the mail a few months ago. It mostly sits in a cup with a lot of other pens.

Threads like this have popped up about once per year, since 2009 (when we got chrome license plate frames and some other stuff). It seems kind of childish to me.
