  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looks like today is going to be battery day... But I'm wondering if I'm missing a part or two in here. I see three obvious detents in there for the battery hold-down, but only the farthest away one has a hole for the mounting bolt. I found the current battery in there with the clamp turned 90° to hold it down. Maybe the new battery will fit differently, but seems an odd setup.

It looks correct, and should work with the correct size battery.
Note that the positive battery clamp assembly is bolted to the car. If the battery is not correctly secured, it will move some and eventually wear down the positive battery post and/or the positive clamp. This may be why some people have to add shims to the positive battery post.

Thanks! After checking, looks like somebody must've made do with a "close enough" battery:1000002105.webp

As you probably know by now, the proper battery is a h9-agm or 95r. First time I replaced my 2015 batt, the local farm & barn supply crossed it to your model above.

Something about these AGM batts is if they sit for some time without charging and the voltage drops below a certain point, they really don't like to charge back up.

Sad how a nearly $300 battery with 'New AGM' technology only lasts three years. My car is on its third batt. My wife's old 2007 Santa Fe went seven years on the original lead acid batt before she sold it.

Funny you mention that... The 10/23 dated replacement I bought at O'Reilly's ended to being dead when I installed it. Read like 6-ish volts on my cheapo multimeter and wouldn't light anything up in the car. They swapped me out with one with a 12/23 sticker that worked. First time I've ever bought a battery that was dead off the shelf and it's only 3-4 months old.

Anyway, the 95R fits the hold-down just fine. Wouldn't surprise me if that Delco one was somebody's lot battery prior to my ownership.

Hopping on this thread for a related issue. Just got my 2015 Genesis 5.0 and the battery hold-down bracket bolt is stripped as can be and I'm trying to find the bolt size to replace it from a hardware store. Does anyone know the bolt size?
