  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Where is the location of positive terminal under the hood for connection of battery maintainer or must it be connected directly to battery in trunk? I see the red + at rear of fuse box location but no readily identifiable connection point.

I wondered about this also. There is an exposed metal clip-like thing that appears to me to be the positive connection but it is so close to the rest of the fuse box items it is not a secure location.

The positive terminal is accessed when you pop open the fusebox located in the upper left corner of the engine bay. It has a red "+" sign on the cover. When you remove the cover, you'll see the metal prong sticking out that you can attach the positive connection.

The negative terminal is located just beside the passenger side airbox, it looks like a long bolt, attached to the body, and sticking out into the engine bay. There is actually a "-" sign stamped right next to it.

Circled in red...

OR, you can always just access the battery directly from the trunk if needed.

Thanks. I was aware of the negative location but when opening the fuse box the metal prong/tab looked a little flimsy.

Yeah, it does appear somewhat derpy. Haha.

Looking at the distance between the + and - terminals in the G70 I realized that the cables from my portable jump starter (sold by Amazon) are too short for reaching both poles. I will have to use another bolt attached to the frame or find an extension cable to reach the negative terminal or attach the jumper directly to the battery.
Or I will use this technique

Yes, I was surprised at how small the + terminal was. I don't think a typical jumper cable will be able to grab and hold onto this very well. They're designed to grab larger things. It also seems too close to other things.
