If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can someone please give me some assistance on how to clean my Beige leather seats, this is the first time that I’ve had leather seats and I want to make sure that I don’t ruin them by doing dumb.

Basically, my son has left blank scuff marks from his shoes on the back of the passengers chair at the bottom, so I need to know what I can use to clean them off.. Do you use soap and water? And that’s why I’m asking… I have no idea.

Thanks in advance!

And a white cotton cloth, like a clean old undershirt.

I'm not totally clear on your description, but a large portion of the back of the seats is a "soft touch" surface that's not leather. It is fine to use soap and water on those. Strong soaps like dish soaps generally won't immediately hurt leather, but they will strip off all the oils so if you have something like a pen mark it's okay to resort to something like dish soap (imo), but make sure to follow up with a good leather conditioner.

Lexol is fantastic. I buy it in the 3 liter refill. I use mostly conditionerr, but use the cleaner as needed.

Thanks so much!!! I had seen some of them on amazon but wasn't sure, now i am!

Thanks again.

I was worried that the conditioner would clog the ventilation holes in the seats but no such problem. I use a wax applicator and spray the conditioner onto it and wipe it on the leather. Works great. As noted above, I to only use the cleaner as needed for spot cleaning. Works awesome.

You can buy this at Wal-Mart.

This is the best of the best , kinda more expensive than others , but it's well worth the investment.
I am using whole product line they offer.
As have new car, I wanted to keep it in that shape , enjoyed the forum , learned a lot, those little things that can destroy your paint and how to take care of it. For example before I never paid attention to bird droppings, I thought agh, I'll wash it when I wash the car , or maybe rain will be , turns out that there is so much acid that if kept for long time it can destroy your cars paint clear coat. I did very fine detailing , with claying , which is cleaning your paint that all buildups are gone and the clear coat is clear as ever , same product lines cleanser polisher, then apply coating , which lasts at least for few year, windows done, driving in rain more than 20 MPH no need wipers, water runs off windows. Very nice folks and members, will explain you everything , how to use product, professional detailers will give you advice.
Within a little over a month I've done things that I never know existed and didn't know how is the right way waxing buffing, even wash the car, it's not like put a shampoo in water and wash it, let I dry and put some wax may be on:)
Here is the products , you can find the leather conditioner, cleaner and it really gives the new car smell again:)

Anyone know if the leather in the Genesis is plasticized for better wear? I've heard that all modern cars use this method. I know my last two cars did.

Still a fan of Leather Master products, made in Italy - previously a fan of Lexol, but moved to LM based on feedback from detailer sites.

The Leather Master Strong Leather Care Kit is a must have:

Its a great product as well. There are so many different products and choices on market. And of course everyone has they favorite.
Regarding the dish soap , I think it's better to leave the soap for dishes and get some product what's designed for cleaning leather. It depends of the leather and what results are expected.
The suggestion is that the new product try in small test spot, which is some place out of sight, and not use very stiff brush, and fluffy fine microfiber towel.
Can get some opinions and suggestions here

I'll stick what I found works best for me :)
It's not recommended to use silicon based cleaners
as it bad for leather.

If plasticized, leather care products won't do much.

I use 303 Protectant on all plastic surfaces, seats included, and it works great. Great for cleaning and uv protection.

Also good for tires, lubing plastics and rubber weatherstripping, among others. Fantastic stuff. :) I use it on my leather seats also, but they're black - not sure whether it would be best for cleaning dirty beige leather, though.

I use the stuff with the funny name on the weather stripping, I like the little foam applicator and it works really well. I have had light colored seats in my last few cars and the 303 works well as a cleaner, never had a problem, but then my seats don't get that dirty.

I also have a bottle of Lexol that I use occasionally, but I don't see a benefit to using it.

My understanding is that leather care products don't really work on plasticized leather, at least no better than a product like 303 and likely not as good. Another of those myths left over from the days of old British cars with real, untreated, leather interiors.

....like 303 and likely not as good....

IMO, 303 Protectant is one of the greatest unsung products out there and has uses not even discovered yet.

One of my favorites is using it as a tire treatment for my truck (provides a nice matte finish - not glossy enough for my car, tho) and even better is for all of the black rubber moldings around the vehicles. You can take some on a sponge and just haphazardly apply it to all of the "black rubber" parts that you try to avoid with other products and smear it on and then just go around again and wipe it all down. Excess wipes off easily from glass and paint and the rubber looks new again for a couple of months.

Check out Leatherique. It is two-step process with the conditioner going on first (seemed backwards at first) to release dirt and oils followed by the cleaner. It's pricy, but IMHO it does a great job.

I'm currently using 303 on my other cars and love it (I don't have a genesis yet). I've previously used Leatherique and 2 step zaino. Both work great as well, and the Zaino left a nice new car type scent behind.

You can't go wrong with any these .

Absolutely right!

These products are so much better than the old Armour All.
