  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Very close to purchasing a 2024 GV60 Performance. What is the best home level 2 charger to get for this car? I don't want to skimp here, want the best, with the most features and most future proof as well. thanks for any recommendations.

Charge Point has work well for me. You may want to check out the You Tube channel of "State of Charge." He has tested dozens and dozens of home chargers.

There are lots of choices out there, but first, you need to decide where the charger will be located. Inside a garage or covered carport? In the weather? How will you run a new electrical circuit? How important is cable length going to be? Can your panel support a new 50 or 60A circuit? If you want 60A (which will deliver 48A), then the charger has to be hard-wired. If you want more "portability", then a NEMA 15/50 plug-in charger will support 50/40A delivered.

will be inside the garage. Will pay an electrician to install it correctly, but I have no idea about current wiring in the house. This neighborhood is ~10 years old and there are tons of Tesla owners who all have Tesla chargers installed inside their garages.

I like my Emporia. I got it free two times ;) First was from my city and second was Emporia refunded my money. The charger combined with the Emporia Energy Monitor was supposed to draw excess solar for EV charging. It never worked with my Tesla system and after a year of waiting for a firmware upgrade they decided to just give me my money back. I do like the functionality of the Emporia much better than the Ford charger I had for my Mach-E.

Chargepoint for me. Needed for me to get utility discount on actual use.

EA is non existent anywhere near me. Emporia seems best bet for me so far in my research.

I have an Emporia, and mostly like it, but it does have a relatively thick and heavy cable and the wall unit is also relatively large. ChargePoint cables are a little lighter, but virtually none are lighter than Tesla cables. Go figure. Definitely have a look at State of Charge reviews [State Of Charge]

I wonder why the greater Austin area only has one EA. There are a million+ people. I feel fortunate we have 20+ in the greater Sacramento area and a few more are coming soon.

As mentioned in my earlier reply, many utilities will give a discount on off hour usage BUT you must use a charger they approve. I learned this at the last minute.

Also, get many quotes for the install, they are all over the place. Saved 50% just by shopping the work around.

My electric utility only offer 50 rebate plus 25 after 1 year if they are allowed to muck with charging during peak times. Not worth the effort to me.

They don't control your charger...you can charge whenever you want, but if you set the charger to charge off peak (overnight) you can save something for no extra work those times you want to charge overnight. What the utility does require is a wifi enabled charger (like chargepoint) and ChargePoint's and your permission to share the data. Since Chargepoint is highly rated and an amazon best seller it made sense to me.

I love my Flo charger, the connected features are great. I got it off Amazon.

“Future proof” would almost certainly require NACS, so you’ll need an adapter for your GV60.

Charge Point flex for me. If I ever have a vehicle with a NACS port I can just change the charging cable out from CCS to NACS. I like that the Flex keeps me informed on how much power I am using and its cost. I did not know I was saving so much over a ICE vehicle.

Agree, I have the Flex as well. Looks the part in the garage and works great, app could be better...timing function has never failed but sometimes it will say the car isn't plugged in when it is, have had similar issues on the Genesis app which also works fine EXCEPT that from day 1 I could not stop charging through the Genesis app (I can with the Flex). The Genesis app says I'm not paying for that service though I definitely have it included. Genesis is still trying to figure that issue out.

I have the same issue and also have a case open with Genesis. I’ve sent them requested screen grabs, etc.

I have the charge point flex on order. Does the charge point app have any use for commercial chargers? The closest commercial charger near me is a charge point, but people complain about it being slow (62.5kW on plugshare) so I'm guessing this level 2 home one might be just as fast?
