  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am not sure if this belongs here or in detailing, but has anyone refinished their wheels themselves? With having to stay at home for most of the day, I figured it would be a great opportunity to fix the chipping paint (common problem I bet) by redoing all of the wheels. Anyone know what brand of wheel paint matches the OEM color well? Outside of the chipping, there are no significant gouges that would require filler. I figured I would remove as much grease and grime as possible, dry them off, sand them down with 80, then 320 or higher grit, thoroughly clean the surface again, and then apply a couple coats of whatever paint is best and finish it off with a couple coats of clear.

I will repair one wheel on my 2015 Genesis that has a chip from a deep pot hole with a hype silver wheel paint and some aluminum wheel filler to smooth out the nicks.

I will use one coat of clear to protect the finish. If the color is really off compared to the other wheels , then I will just paint them as well with the same color to match.
