  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Best Way to Buy/Lease a 2016 Genesis 3.8

Thanks. I use the method they suggest at fightingchance.com. I have no relationship to that website but have found it very informative even if you don't buy their packet (which I've bought twice now because I found the website itself so informative). Anyways, you basically play all of the dealers against each other using the phone and email. It's a two or three day process but pretty stress free. I've bought four cars this way (my family members all use me to negotiate their deals) and I'll never buy another car any other way. I actually thought I was going to do a little bit better as it is a two round negotiation process and this was my best offer from the get go with nobody being able to beat it in the call back stage.

I really wanted to do this at the end of the month and by the time I realized how easy it was to do boost up, I didn't want the stress of scrambling to get it. Also, I had heard that the Uber incentive did not work for leases or else I would have done it.

Thanks for creating this thread. I used your deal as a silent target, hoping to just get within spitting distance while knowing that you had a couple of discounts that I could not get. As for circle pricing, I find that whether or not I qualify for programs like that, if they're out there, my method should get me to at least the same place (unless the program is actually subsidized by the manufacturer with money back to the dealers, in which case it's like an incentive I don't qualify for). Oh yeah, of course I also have the $400 disposition fee. My understanding is that was standard for everyone so I didn't bother mentioning it.

It's really remarkable that these cars can be had on three year 12,000 mile leases for these prices (heck, both of us would still have been under $400 per month on ultimates, that's insane).

Yeah, you're right there. I've been sitting there with BoostUp cocked since 2013, so it was a huge relief to finally deploy it. The Uber thing was a last minute lark, but the dealers seemed willing so I wasn't about to take anybody here's word that it wouldn't work on a lease. Let the dealer say "no": why should I?

The Circle pricing has SOME benefit to the dealers (and they CAN'T say no), so it's a great place to start, especially considering it's free for the asking.

I'll check out your referenced website. It obviously did very good by you.

Nice deal. How'd you get them to come down so far without the Circle pricing? Also, did you get nailed with a disposition charge? Mine is $400 which works out to another $11/month or so.

You never had a shot at Graduate, but Uber and BoostUp is reasonably available to anyone. Just make sure you open a BoostUp account in advance of needing it (it'll keep forever until you're ready to fund it). The Uber people will, from what I'm told, bump me off their system after a month or so of no driving.

Enjoy your new ride; my son LOVES his!

What do you need to do to get the uber discount?

What do you need to do to get the uber discount?

In my case, I had to log in and bring up a display of my Uber driver's account which the dealership then copied to their printer and stapled to the growing stack of other paperwork they pile up and send to ...?

I had registered as a candidate driver with Uber two days prior to signing the Genesis lease, which involved uploading pics of my drivers license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance as required by Uber. They performed a background check (said could take from 3 to 7 days) and I was approved for driving for Uber the next morning. I figured I should probably flow some money through my new "job" to lock in my driver status, so the wife "hired" me to take her to the Waffle House for breakfast (so why did I have to pay for her waffle and OJ?). The fare (paid by her and then, less Uber's cut, promised over to me) fired up all the Uber displays under my account. The dealer was happy to knock $1,000 off the price of the car, so who am I to bitch about losing $2 on the fare?

Thank you for the info

You should thank God for making you so smart.

Minimally smart but massively cheap! You're right though, that I have a lot to be thankful for. Thanks for reminding me...

UPDATE:

With local taxes officially determined by HMF (car is "garaged" at lower tax rate of my and my son's location), the final lease price is just under $325/month.
