  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bird droppings

Both Kia and Hyundia never faired as well with their clear coat vs bird droppings. Got to have on plenty of wax and get the droppings ASAP or will burn through the clear coat. Been a noted problem for years.

Good to know. That's a serious shortcoming. Where I live there are plenty of birds. I can get the droppings off the next time I wash the car, which might be weeks in some cases. Never have had a problem. Bit of a pain having to get them off immediately or risk damage to the finish. My "favorite" is when the birds have been eating berries and drop those bright pink bombs. Hard not to notice.

I have been pretty anal about keeping the car clean, ive put upward of 4 layers of mothers synthetic wax (which apparently is a sealent, in lieu of finally finding some liquid glass again), and multiple layers of carnuba, and spray canuba detail wax over the last few weeks.... Its like a mirror.. but than i saw some bird shite on the rear door, must have baked on all day at work, and i cannot get the residue out, its like a milky haze thats smoothe and i tried soaking, cleaning, glym glass cleaner (which said its cool for removing stuff on paint) and buffing out... Nothing has worked, anyone have luck with goof off? Any ideas?

Dude, all I see when I read your posts is how your avatar would read them LOL

As far as the residue, try a cutting compound. It doesn't sound like that it's the paint causing this.
1. Wash car with microfiber applicator with one hand and use a clay bar behind the area already washed.
2. Use a cutting compound to thin the layers of wax.
3. Proceed with a buffing compound paying extra attention to the "poop" area.
4. Use a sealant to finish off the job.

The cutting compound is what will get it off, it you can. Don't stay in one spot too long with the cutting compound as it can smudge the paint. Use an electric buffer to decrease applicating time. Hope this helps.

@cheez, good explantion
