Bizarre blue tooth ritual

So i just got my grand touring 3.8 coup and alI is fun and joy BUT blue tooth pair phone won't function. I go to dealer. Sales guy and repair manager can't fix it and make me an appt for repair. I go home and scour the internet and find one guy who claims you MUST engage the emergency brake while pairing a phone. This seems unlikely at best, appears nowhere in manual but, hey, nothing to lose. I try it and poof! Phone pairs!!! How bizzare!

Never would have guessed. There are some set up functions on the sedan that can only be performed in Park but since the coupe can be had with stick shift, I guess they did the E brake.
