  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

One of the things I've found attractive about the Mercedes E and C class is the look of the black roofs in their cars with the panoramic sunroofs. Especially on a white or silver car. You guys know what I'm talking about?

Here's an example of a C300 with a black roof on a pewter colored car:

My car is at the body shop getting the bumper replaced after I nailed a possum at 85mph. The bumper actually held up well, it was the fog light and fender liner that didn't. Anyways, I thought this would be a great time to finally get my roof painted black. I stopped by to check on the progress of everything and the roof is done, but still waiting on the lower air dam (black plastic strip under bumper) I snapped a quick picture of the roof, but will definitely snap some better ones from different angles once I get it back and cleaned up.
It definitely looks awesome in person.
Paint code is 99 (805 black)

I've seen a few black painted roofs and they don't really speak to me, but that's entirely a matter of personal preference. Having said that, my roof is also black, but so is the rest of the car .:D

I hear ya and trust me, I know it's not for everyone. Neither is a black car with a black roof.

I'm definitely down with the black roof as well ;)

Looks sweet! The black roof is a nice touch...I grew up a Ford Mustang enthusiast (owned a '66 coupe back in early 1980s) and always loved the look of the '69 and '70 'Mach 1' with the way Ford sprayed the hood flat black; definitely set the car apart from anything else on the road. Oh, and the 351 cu in V8 helped set it apart as well!

What did it cost you to have the roof sprayed?

I happened to see a Mercedes S400 Hybrid today with that Black Roof. I guess its not just for the E and C class.

Living mostly in Florida, like you, I don't want that black roof heating up the car. I will keep my Champagne Genesis as is. If I owned the Burgundy Genesis, I would consider painting the roof White. I did that with a red car I once had. Looked beautiful.

Interesting that the E Class pic shows only one fog lamp working.
SCOTTISHA- Does the HID foglamps get too warm? Posts on changing bulbs have resulted in melting lamp housings.
Is roof painted or is black decal wrap?
Army Aviation here grunt!

Black wrap would be the way to go. It should be cheaper than paint. Also if you would change your mind about the black roof it could be removed. Also when you go to sell the car a lot might not like the look .
