  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

BLACK vs WHITE debate - I need your opinions on this one :(

Oh wow....been to Arizona...I wouldn't have lasted much with a black car...lol When LA got really hot this summer...Arizona was in hell mode weather! Can't complain! Props to you! ;)

And pretty much all of my coworkers are telling me to get white aswell...lol i guess it's pretty much decided :D

Yes, of course, it's up to you and your personal preferences, not to mention the size of your wallet. Frankly, I'm wondering why anybody would want to take such a financial bath. You could probably afford to have your black car professionally detailed every two months for less money than this questionable color swap will cost you.

By the way, there are plenty of times that I wish my wife was a large breasted blonde. Same thing with the house that I live in. Why do I live on a golf course when a waterfront property might have been better? That grass always looks greener elsewhere.

I've owned a white Genesis (my 2010) and a black one (my 2012 5.0), and I agree that black is a major PITA. That being said, I've gotten a lot more compliments on my black one than I did on my white one. Go figure.

I don't buy cars for the looks I'll get from anybody. I buy a car that I want. I'll never own a black car. They're like a convertible or a boat..... happy twice..... when you buy it and when you sell it.

I like white in my cars..... silvers/grays are ok....... maybe a shade of red depending on the car.......... black will never be in my garage.

Hey guys.

So i currently own a black genny..I got the opportunity to be able to swap it for a white one but i dunno if it's worth it. The reason is i really clean this genny A LOT....mainly because it's so easy to get dirty here in California and dusty. I can also see the small swirls around and it's really taking a lot of time and $ keeping it clean but once clean...it's SOOOOO SEXY!

I know you can also get swirl marks on white cars aswell....plus it's not as shiny when waxed compared to a black car.

Do any black genny owner regret getting black for this main purpose? I should have known before getting it lol i used to have other black cars but didn't really maintain it as the Genny. Any outputs on this would be appreciated it :)
I may be in the minority with this response. I would not swap my black Genny for any other color. What works for me when the Genny gets dusty, I just use my leaf blower and voila she is clean again. Also, I believe the hard work of keeping the black Genny clean can get old yet, the result are second to none and this is not my first black vehicle.

I've had my black Genny now for just 4 months. It's a labor of love, but so worth it. What helps me out is that I signed up for unlimited washes from the touchless car wash about 2 miles away. It takes about 5 minutes for the wash and 5 to hand dry. Costs me $40 a month and I'm washing about 3-4 times per week.

I'll probably feel differently later, but I have no regrets so far. This is my first premium vehicle, so I don't mind babying it a little. I'm sure I'll get sick of this routine at some point though, but I sure love the looks that it gets. :)

yeap...i started doing the same...then slowly got tired...really tired.

So i called my dealer today and told him that i would wait to swap until the 2014 Genny comes out...he sounded disappointed when i said i would wait till then telling me the 2014 won't have much change from the 2013 :( Also he said the 2014 are gonna be in March 2014.

Still gonna wait and see....better wait than regret :P or maybe wait another year for the redesigned Genesis :) until then i gotta do my best to keep my black one as sexy as i can haha but i am definitely retiring from owning black cars

Here's the answer - set up one of these bad boys in your driveway so the car gets blown clean every time you back out of the garage.

One day....when i win the lotto i will make one for every genesis owners that have the black genny

Ours is white and when clean, the metal flake makes it stunning. That said, our other car is a gold that is similar to dirt color. I wish the R-spec had been available in gold as it doesn't look that dirty when it's dirty.

go white, and then white again, it really is a no brainer. obviously the up keep is much easier and thus cheaper because white doesn't show the dirt as much as black or other dark colors. also, white is a very sporty and formal looking color, especially w/ the white metallic / diamond / pearl flake- it shines.

for the interior, black is the way to go for me. i couldn't find a white and black interior genny, so i had to settle w/ the light tan. i really hate it because the annoying two tone colors going on. the dash is dark and door panels and seats are light tan- hate it. solid dark colors look much better imo.

I KNOW! my only option would be to get the RSPEC white...which has the black interior option :( but i want the 3.8...no need for 5.0

The tan interior is what kept me from getting the white. That and a comparable black model was $5000 cheaper:) (I bought used). Also, here in PA the white seems to get really dirty quickly in the winter. All the ash that is used on the roads really show quickly on the white.

Actually, black is no more trouble than any other color. Black shows everyone else how lazy or sloppy you are if you don't clean and maintain your car properly, or how clean and detail-oriented you are if you do. The only reason white is perceived as less trouble is because people are lulled into washing it less and less, if at all, and they think nobody else notices. White gets just as dirty just as quickly

I know people with white cars who NEVER wash them, yet they wash their clothes and keep their homes and yards clean. They make excuses for the mildew, poop stains, scratches and road grime all over their disgusting germ factory vehicles, yet they stress about how green their grass is or what label is on their clothing, for examples. The worst is a smoker's white car, which has all that, and then inside is even dirtier and smells like an ashtray. De-friend! If you have allergy problems, consider how disgusting your car might actually be

White can be stunning and sexy for sure if it is cared for as well as you would care for a black car, and anyone with a brain can tell the difference between a clean, glossy, mirror-like white that feels like velvet and and a dirty, oxidized eyesore that feels like sandpaper. We're not fooled. Remember where the whole luxury car concept came from. It was the chauffeur-driven car that was always spotless and shiny for the same reasons you wash your style your hair, wear nice clothes, or mow your lawn :)

May be it's just me.
Thus far all of 4 doors sedan I have owned to date have been black on black. (CLASSY!)
On the contrary, all of mine two door coupes have been white on black. (SEXY!)
And yes I've always tried hard to keep them shine and spotless whenver possible.
