  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Blank Instrument Cluster

I am just the opposite. It seems to work better on cold days than warmer ones. No set trend that I can identify.
I'm not convinced the new cluster is the fix. That being said, it SEEMS this issue is only affecting a small group so perhaps a bad part is the cause. I made sure before the install that the new cluster was from a different batch then what I had and the service guy said he could tell from the part code that it was.

I too have been experiencing the blank cluster screen since the wireless CarPlay update. There was another OTA update not too long after the initial CarPlay update. I don't remember whether it started after the first or second update. In my case it usually comes back on within a minute or two, and I've never had to resort to driving with it blank.

What I did observe yesterday was if I put the car in park while the cluster screen is blank, it will not automatically engage the parking brake. Not sure if it was just a one-off. Also, in couple of instances when I started the car, it played the shutoff sound. Something is out of sync in the system. This most definitely is a software bug.

Same as others, SA has no clue why this is happening, new cluster ordered, will take a while to get it. Meanwhile, I will continue to preheat before driving.

I'm experiencing the same issue with my 2024 G90 that I got early September. I'm not sure what's causing the problem but, I will have it looked at during my first service appointment.

The service manager told me that he saw it on a few different models, but mine was first electric with it

Interesting in that the G90 and the GV60 share the same info system. Hummh! A clue?

From the very beginning, I’ve always suspected a software/firmware issue. Possibly a chip revision that is incompatible or slightly different that is causing the issue. I also suspect a firmware update can fix it, but until the software developers can make the changes and test them, swapping out components is probably the quicker short-term fix, just as it was with the “Stuck Update” issue from the previous OTA update.

Genesis needs to step up their quality assurance prior to releasing these OTA updates. I’d hate to get a new head unit every time a new OTA update comes out and breaks something.

I haven't seen any posts from 2025 owners or 2023 owners with this problem except for the 2023 owner that had his cluster with a different issue. I think there was a bad lot of display clusters that made its way into 2024's.
Mine is a '23 and i started having the blank screen issue right after the Oct Wireless Carplay update.

Had my GV60 in 3 times now, and each time they try something new...from resets, to replacing some kind of connector wire, to finally ordering a new display. Unfortunately, that display came in and was DOA so now i'm waiting for another and they said they have no ETA on when a new display will arrive.

On another note, and not sure if it's related but ever since the dealership started trying to fix this black screen issue, i've been getting a "Feature Currently Unavailable." message on the infotainment screen randomly when trying to operate anything from the steering wheel or the dedicated buttons. Super annoying as you can't change volume, change stations, etc... Sometimes restarting the car will resolve but sometimes not. I'll search the forum for this i guess and start a new thread if regarding if needed.

So about a month ago, I reported this issue to Genesis Customer Care and received the following response:

“Thank you for contacting Genesis Customer Care. We are sorry to learn of the concerns with the cluster not coming on when turning on your GV60.

“Given the mechanical nature of your concerns, we recommend visiting your local Genesis Retailer Parts Department. Their expert team is equipped to provide you with hands-on assistance and personalized guidance ensuring the best possible resolution for your vehicle concerns. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

As my dealer is not close, I figured I’d wait until I received assurances that the dealer would know what the problem is and would have available any needed replacement parts. After getting the ICCC recall notice I figured I’d ask customer care again if they knew anything about the issue:

“I do not want to schedule an appointment with the dealership unless there is a known fix for this problem. Mine is not the only vehicle with this issue, as it appears to have been widely reported. See the following Genesis Owners Forum thread: [Link to this thread]

“My dealer is a 90 minute drive away, so it is not convenient for me to take the car there. As the problem is not readily reproducible, it would probably require the car being left at the dealer, which is obviously not convenient.

“Supposedly, there is a "national case number" on this issue. Is it possible for you to research this and let me know what the status is?”

Unfortunately, they claimed total ignorance of the issue:

“We understand the retailer being far away can be a challenge. However, we are unable to locate any information on the concern. We apologize for the inconvenience this might cause.

“A retailer visit is recommended for a detailed diagnosis of the concern and appropriate resolution by our factory-trained technicians.”

Arggh. :(

Getting ours done Monday.....also crossing fingers.

congrats to those who've gotten the panel replaced. mine's still on backorder...although the workaround to turn climate on before getting into the car continues to work well, when I remember to do it!

That may explain why I have not encountered this issue. I never turn my HVAC off.

ooh, I think maybe I wasn't clear.

HVAC is on for me all the time as well, when I'm driving. it's when I get into a cold car that the issue appears, but if I turn climate on before I get into the car--from the app--the car comes up to temperature by the time I'm in it and the screen isn't black. (presumably you didn't mean your climate is on when you're not in the car.)

Ah. gotcha. But still a possible explanation as my car never really gets cold (Scottsdale Arizona). But I rarely use the app to start the HVAC (primarily in the summer when I am parked in the sun for 5 hours; but my club has covered parking so even that is rare).

I think the reason the climate "trick" works is simply that it turns on the car. If you did not use remote climate on and simply turned the car on and came back in a few minutes the cluster would be on, at least in my use case.

I’ve found that I don’t have the issue if my car has been plugged in and charging overnight. (This is a very unscientific observation.)

This would also fit the thesis that the car needs to be off for several hours for the problem to occur. Charging keeps the cluster on. I have never had a situation where the problem happened on two consecutive starts NOT spaced out by several hours at least.

That’s probably because the screen stays on when it’s charging
