  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Blank Instrument Cluster

This would also fit the thesis that the car needs to be off for several hours for the problem to occur. Charging keeps the cluster on. I have never had a situation where the problem happened on two consecutive starts NOT spaced out by several hours at least.
My car screen is off almost every morning even though the car is being charged overnight (outside or in the garage)

My cluster used to automatically turn off after a couple minutes of charging. Now after the last OTA update, it remains on.

I was referring to the screen not turning on for up to 10 minutes when the car is on first thing in the morning, regardless whether I'm charging or not.

How long between the end of charging and when you see your cluster not illuminating?

Are you saying that the car is actually charging (not just connected to the charger) such that the cluster is lit with the charging information, and then moments later when you start the car the cluster is black? If so, that is highly unusual at least compared to what I was experiencing.

No

Understood. I was simply remarking that when charging, the screen remains on so that if you go to your car during this time, you probably won’t experience the blank screen problem.

Temp or climate control being on has nothing to do with it. Our car kept in warm garage…. Still is blank. Tried the climate control thing, still nlank

By climate control I mean the car starting 10 minutes before departure to set temp. I never had a black screen when i did that. Thankfully the new screen still working fine, knock on wood x 2.

My car is at the dealership now for the ICCU recall and I’m also having them look at the blank screen issue. Let’s see what they come back with.

My car is in for recall service and I had them check the issue with the blank screen as well. According to their notes, they scanned and found a fault where "FOR THE CCIC FURTHER DIAG DETERMINED THAT VARIANT CODING WAS NOT CORRECT, PROPERLY SET THE VARIANT CODING AND FAULT WAS NO LONGER PRESENT"

Wonder if this will fix the issue. Anyone else get this as an explanation?

Took our GV60 in yesterday for the screen cluster replacement. Was told 7-10 days to get back. They are removing cluster, sending to California for transfer of system settings and then back for install of new cluster. Not sure why so long. Was told that only a couple of places in USA could transfer settings (like mileage) from old to new. Questioned this but that was the answer. Getting all other recalls done also. Evidently there is a new recall that just hit the street a couple of days ago that deals with headlights...... At least they gave us a new GV70 (ICE) to drive in meantime. I know now I could never go back to a ICE after driving EV's for past 7 years.

My dealer in NJ did this in house. All recalls and new cluster put in same day. What is the headlight recall?

I got an initial explanation of some "fault" but fix was replacing the cluster. Let us know if this setting fixed your issue.

Did you get any details on the headlight recall? I am going in tomorrow for the ICCU recall and would love to knock that one out, too.

The same dealer sold me the car with 3 updates due. I took it back a week later to have them check a wheel balance and asked about the wireless AA/CarPlay update. Suddenly, they looked and notice 3 updates that were due. Why don't dealers check for updates without being prodded?

I had the same experience with my selling dealer. I asked if all recalls and updates had been done prior to taking delivery because I had already checked for recalls on their website with the VIN. The salesman was confident that they were and supposedly verified it. Day after delivery, I figure out that the software had not been updated and that two older recalls were pending.

Reporting back here to share that I had my full instrument cluster replaced yesterday for this issue. As previously mentioned, my dealership felt this was the best solution. It took 1 1/2 days - and so far so good (but it was happening randomly, so I'll give it some time). I'll report back here after a few weeks to confirm if this solved it.

My replacement seems to be working. FYI, I was initially told that the replacement would be a multi-day process, cluster needed to be sent out for programming, etc...but I pushed back that a forum member said a tech came to his house and did the whole job in a few hours. Turns out that the GV80 (or some other model) had a widespread cluster issue and those clusters did need to be sent out for programming, so my dealer just assumed it was the same for the GV60. BUT the GV60 could be programmed in house with the use of connected services. No need to send off site. They only found that out because I pressed the issue.
