In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I need a little input/advice on the installing process of the front turn signal bulb sockets in a 2015 Genesis Sedan 5.0 RWD

I am having a mechanic shop do the install, but I am getting sketched out about this place and want to make sure they are being honest and I have my facts straight.

Quick story: Took my car into a corporate owned mechanic shop (due to location and time crunch) and the manager originally quoted me $200 each for the bulb sockets because there were no after market bulb sockets for my car and he had to get them from the dealership. I Immediately called the dealership and got their price of $70 and asked the manager why he gave me such a bogus price. He apologized and said he gave me the wrong quote and he had my quote in front of him with $70 bulb sockets pricing.

Today I pick up my car and pull away and my blinkers are working again! I get home and walk to the front of the car and glance at it and see a bright orange turn signal bulb chilling in headlight lens. WTF! I take it back up there and they apologize and said they knew about the bulb but there was a "miscommunication" on which repair guy was supposed to get it out.....

My questions are:
- I assume he is being honest about not having after market bulb sockets for my car. Can anyone confirm?

- Is it possible to do this bulb socket install without dropping the bumper? They claim they dropped the bumper but I am having a hard time believing it when they didnt see or hear this bright orange bulb rattling around while putting the front bumper and headlight assembly back on. I also accidently broke off the plastic circle that sits in front of the headlight and they didnt remove that out of the other headlight lens either. I assumed they would just remove this when they did the bulb socket install, but nope.

- I was charged $175 @ 1.6 labor hours. My genesis dealer is $179 per hour.... I told them that seems a little high because those are dealership rates, but they said that was the going rate everywhere these days.

-I don't know that much about cars but I know the average bulb socket is cheap for most cars. From what I've seen luxury cars tend to run in the $50-$80 range. Are there even $200 bulb sockets out there? If not, this would bust him in a lie.

-I can get to the bulb socket through the hood in 15 minutes just taking out the air filters, dont know if its possible to cut corners and install the bulb sockets that way? Is 1.6 hours to remove the bumper and install 2 turn signal bulb an accurate amount of time or should it be less?

You certainly can install bulb sockets without dropping the bumper. Now fishing out a bulb might not be possible without doing that as there's not a lot of room there anyway. I call BS from the shop trying to make extra cash though.
