  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Blue Link Discount?

I have 5.0 Ultimate and would consider not having Blue Link. Why have the most tech you can pack in a car and disable some of the bells and whistles.

Google works awesome for me, love pressing the button, saying a business or POI and it finds it without issues.

Plus I love the fact it displays the hours of the business (retail) and the phone number...

It's nearly always hit and miss when i actually type in to the navigation system.

Now if you could use get opentable or even yelp added, that would just bang!

On the point about why have the tech available and not use it - the tech is clunky and not the most useful. Remote lock/unluck and remote start are novelties that I used a few times when I bought the car and not often after. The app is slow, sometimes non-responsive and the UI is frustrating. The Google integration is a nice add, but I have that and far more with the Siri integration with my phone linked via Bluetooth. I guess it goes back to the fact that I'm a tech nut and see how poorly this part of the car has been executed; they could have done a far more impressive job and made the feature set exceptional.

On the original point of the OP, I got an email from Hyundai today for a 50% off (a day after the 35% coupon expired).

Here's the promo code if anyone wants it. Not sure if it works for others or if it works more than once. Good luck!

RP50P142

It's registered to your VIN :-

Promo Code: RP50P142 is not applicable to VIN: KMHXXXXXXXXXXXX

THANK YOU for testing their renewal system for us. Sounds a lot like the SiriusXM scheme lol. Just keep saying no until they offer it for $5 a month lol. I will definitely not renew at the end of my trial period and wait for the 50% off deal. Thank you again.

I have not used anything on blue link other than the Remote Start, Remote lock/ Unlock. By pushing the blue link button on mirror, doesn't it auto call the blue link service?

As for the price, I asked when I activated my trial and they said no discount, and you must have connected care, to get either guidance or remote,so you are stuck at $200 bucks if you want the remote service (or guidance). The guidance seems useless to me and should just be part of the connected care. Just a way for Hyundai to try an get more money from us I guess.

Pressing the Bluelink button on the mirror brings up Google Search. Simply (with voice commands) tell it what your looking for and they will pop up on the NAV screen. It is worth every penny.

You need Bluelink for remote start, remote lock/unlock, remote lights/horn flash and locate car (if within 1 mile of your location) and Google send to car search functions. The full list is:

Guidance:
DESTINATION SEARCH POWERED BY GOOGLE
DESTINATION SEND-TO-CAR BY GOOGLE

On the DESTINATION SEARCH POWERED BY GOOGLE and the
DESTINATION SEND-TO-CAR BY GOOGLE. Is this something that is done on your cell phone and then you send it to your car's system?

Yes - you can send destinations to the car's NAV from your phone via the Bluelink or Genesis App or from the Bluelink Website (must be logged in) on any PC or MAC.

That feature worked for me before I ever started my bluelink trial. I'll be pissed if i lose that functionality if I cut loose bluelink.

Car must somehow have had bluelink started by your dealer. I briefly chose to not buy bluelink when trial ended hoping they'd give me a discount. (They didn't.) But yes: "bluelink, press button on mirror and google address, pov whatever" DID STOP. Started again when I again re-upped subscription - almost immediately.

Check with your insurance company, If we subscribed to the Bluelink for remote immobilizer (remote start) we received a hefty discount from our insurance that it more than pays for itself. If the car is stolen fill out police report and call bluelink with report # and they will call police, bring the car to a stop and shut down it down...

What insurance company do you use? It sounds like it may be worth giving them a call...

Back to discounts, I received an e-mail message last week offering 1/3 off. When I tried to initiate the remote service only, the web-based program tried to force me to include the navigation package as well. I called an 800 number, and the representative had the same problem, both or none, so I said no thank you. The next day I got another message offering 1/2 off. Same problem again with the program, and I called and got the same representative, and she could not select the remote only package again. I stated the the message and the Blue link site do not say that both options must be purchased, and that there is a programming error (I did mention that I am a professor in a Computer Information Systems department ). She agreed, and said she would submit a ticket so a higher-up would look into the issue. The next day I received an e-mail message saying that my credit card was charged for $54 (tax included) for a one year remote subscription and a free 3 month nav subscription, which I had not previously activated. Since this message I have received two followup phone calls just to make sure everything is alright.
