Blue Link Retrofit

Hi All
I am located in Canada and as you probably know already our cars are not fitted with Blue Link. Does anyone know if Blue Link can be retrofitted to 2015 Genesis Sedan models? I have a 2015 5.0 Ultimate.

I cannot see why not however I am quite sure this implies a new head unit at a ridiculously high price. You could try to find a used one in a junk yard however I bet even one of those command a $3000 price tag. Then you need to figure out how to install the Bluelink button located behind the shifter as the Canadian model has something else in it's place. Could very well be an expensive learning experience that does not work also. As a Canadian, you will not be able to register the unit as there is no Bluelink service available to us however you could activate through a US address.

What exactly are you trying to achieve may I ask.

It seems that Blue Link will be available here soon. I don't think we need a new head unit. Most likely the software has to be updated. I will have a chat with my dealer on this. I was just curious if someone else tried this mod.

I wouldn't be so optimistic. For instance, they did not release Android Auto for our Canadian Genesis even when the head unit was exact same as US model. From the online chat I had with MNSOFT (people behind map update for hyundai) Android Auto won't be available in the upcoming release (v10.5) too and that is Hyundai's decision not to include it. i.e. not a technical/compatibility issue.
