  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have the Tech package in my 2010 Genny. What are the blue dots along the roads when using the Nav screen? I do not use XM traffic or anything of the sort.

You have breadcrumb feature turned on where it keeps a record of your routes And travels?

Breadcrumb feature? I have no clue. Where would I find it? I've been through settings and don't see that feature, but, I've lost my glasses that were sitting on my face!!

NAVI MENU button on DIS ---> SETTINGS ---> MAP DISPLAY ---> SHOW TRACKING - uncheck the check box.
If you move your DIS knob when Show Tracking is selected you can reset all tracking and blue dots will disappear. I just did that because I was also wondering what those were.

Cool. Thanks! I'm not sure of the benefit of that. But Hyundai found a reason to incorporate it, but, leave off features that WOULD be beneficial. *sigh*

I thought the same thing at first. (What the heck are the annoying breadcrumb type dots that seem to be showing my path?)

Then once I figured out what feature it was, I thought how stupid, and I turned the tracking feature off. AND THEN, shortly after I turned it off, I had an occasion where it would have been helpful to easily refer back to what route I used earlier in the day, without taking a few extra mins to enter a new location on my (barely usable) navigation software. That's when I realized the tracking feature could be useful, albeit occasionally.

For example, if you're in an unfamiliar area across town and then you need to navigate elsewhere (ie the grocery store) but then you want to get back to your first location but don't have it entered as a destination on your navi--it's actually useful. Now that I know that, I leave it on now.

The tracking feature basically just gives one more data point (literally) to have available for finding your way around if needed, without having to stop and enter a new destination.

I got it turned off. It's not a big deal. If someone were to travel to different and unfamiliar areas frequently, then I can see its use. But, otherwise it's useless to me. There are certainly better features that could be used by more people, such as have it to actually work properly!!! But, for folks who use their cars in their jobs and travel extensively, ok, it's useful. Otherwise it's not IMHO.
