  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there a way to determine if my phone is actually connected to the car. It has been paired but I am never sure whether a connection is made automatically. In my other car, bluetooth sign(BT) shows up on the screen when my phone is connected to the car. In my genesis I do not see any such sign. Am I missing something?

Hi,

It appears as a Bluetooth Symbol in White when connected on the bottom of the navigation screen towards the left side, it's not viewable in your map screen. Once it's paired for the 1st time it will automatically connect when in range (turn the auto connect Bluetooth to On in the menu).

Vehicle Pairing Instructions:

1. Press INFO/PHONE button.
2. Select Connect Phone by turning knob.
3. Select your phone under Pair Phone by turning knob.
4. In your mobile phone Bluetooth® setup menu, select Add New Device. The default name of the Bluetooth® device is GENESIS.
5. When prompted, enter the Passkey (default passkey 1234).

Phone Pairing Instructions:

1. From the Home Screen, select Menu
2. Select Settings
3. Select Wireless & Networks
4. If needed, select Bluetooth to turn ON
5. Select Scan for Devices
6. Once search is completed, select the device to pair with
7. If needed, enter the PIN # & press OK

Thanks for the info. The question I have relates to the bluetooth sign located at bottom left. In my car, the white bluetooth sign is there regardless of whether my cell phone is in the car or not. So it does not tell me if the phone is connected to the car system. Most of the time I am able to make a call, but sometimes I get a message "can not locate phone". Why does that happen?

Not sure on that as mine occasionally loses connection also. The symbol is only in white if the connection between the cell phone and the Bluetooth in car have paired with each other.....If they are not connected with each other the symbol turns to grey. I'd have your dealership check it out to make sure there is nothing else potentially wrong with it.

Bluetooth wireless technology in its most common implementations has a range of 30 feet (10m). This range, depending on the Bluetooth device class, can extend to 100 meters and has been shown, in some tests, to support an even greater range. Cell phones fall into the 30' category. Any obstructions will diminish this distance.
