  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I want to buy a Bluetooth Earpiece for when I take our Continental on long trips. Back when I bought our Genesis, our two Motorola V400 Cell Phones did (do) not have the Bluetooth feature, so I went out and bought an unlocked Motorola SLVR L9 for myself, pared it to the Genesis, and that is what I now always use. (Note: See last paragraph below)

I have put on 12000 miles on my Genesis since I purchased it back in January 10th. This is 12000 miles in five months of ownership. Many of the miles are from our trip out to El Paso, Phoenix and Roswell, then later to Rochester and Lake George. Not only do I think I've put on too many miles, but because my wife does not like taking the Genesis on long trips, due to the stiff suspension, on our next trip, whenever that may be, we will take the Continental. OK, I can live without the XM Radio on a trip, (although it is great to have), and I can live without the built in Navi, (I have a dash mounted add-on Navi) but in this day of age, there are many places where it is not legal to talk on a hand held cell phone while in the car. All of New York State, plus other places on the way, with local laws. Don't matter if you "did not know it was the law". Cops don't want to know nothing. If their local area says no cell phones, then its no cell phones.

I love having the Bluetooth in my Genesis, so now, for the day I take my Continental on a long trip, I've decided to break down and get a Bluetooth earpiece, and just leave it in the Continental, just for trips.

In addition to my L9 having Bluetooth, I made sure it was an UnLocked phone so I could use any AT&T or T-Mobil SIM card in it. Just took the SIM card out of the V400 and put it in the L9, and everything works. In addition, because we go to Europe every so often, I will purchase a European SIM card (probably off the internet, but perhaps at a cell phone shop in Europe, with a French [or Italian] phone number) install it in my L9, and put my regular SIM card (with my American phone number) back in my V400. Sure, I can use my V400 in Europe, but American carriers charge $1.29 a minute. I will only have the V400 on to receive calls from the US, then I will call back using my L9 at just a few cents a minute. In 2006, I went to France for three weeks. Seldom used my V400, only ten calls, both within France, and to and from the USA, and it cost me $45. Two Januaries ago, I went to Sicily for only one week. Made a lot of calls. Three or four calls a day, all to or from the USA. Don't remember how many calls I made, or how many minutes I used in those seven days, but it ended up costing me $250 in addition to my regular plan calls. If the American GSM carriers would offer me a decent price, I would not bother, but they want an arm/leg, so an unlocked GSM phone with a European SIM card is the way to go.
