  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 3.8 Premium with the touchscreen nav. When I test drove the car before buying, I had an iPhone 3Gs. There was no problem pairing the phone, and the phonebook transfer feature worked perfectly. Now my company has switched to BlackBerry Bold 9930. It pairs fine, but the phonebook feature does not work. This is strange, because the Hyundai bluetooth website shows many compatible BlackBerry phones. Also Hyundai tells me that there is no way to manually enter names and numbers into the phonebook. This is not good, because now I have no way to use the voice dialing feature. Does anyone know if Hyundai issues firmware updates to the touchscreen nav units to accommodate new phones. If so, how often are these updates issued, and what is the process to install them?

They do, but can't tell you how often. My '11 Sonata had touchscreen nav and an update issued that resolved some blutetooth pairing issues that some were having, amongst other things. I'd let Hyundai cust. service know to ensure they are aware of the problem.

Installation on the Sonata took around 45 mins, and was done through the USB port of the car.

GPeaslee,
I have the same vehicle as you (2012 3.8 P) and had a similar problem, though with an LG Android phone rather than a BBY. My phone would connect, but the contacts list wouldn't upload. The solution turned out to be pretty simple. While I had the phone in the car and connected, I just went to my contacts list (phonebook) on the phone itself, and from the menu gave it an "export" command. The popup box asked "export contacts to Genesis?", and I confirmed. It finished in a couple of minutes. I haven't worked with a BBY for a while, but this might be an answer for you. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip! I actually figured out how to transfer contacts from my Blackberry 9930 this weekend. As you said, I discovered a menu on the phone with an option to "transfer contacts". You go into the bluetooth screen on the phone, then press and hold Genesis. A menu pops up with the "transfer contacts" option. Also there is a "full menu" with an options section. In there you can select which group(s) of contacts you want to transfer.
