  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, I own a 2015 Ultimate HTRAC and have issues with Bluetooth lag. My phone is an Android Moto Z2 Play. I have restarted the phone and "forgotten" the phone on the Bluetooth screen then reconnected it, but nothing has worked. It lags about 1 second. Does anyone else have this problem? Do you know a fix for this? Thanks!

Is your software up-to-date? Have you tried rebooting the navigation system?

What do you mean by “lag”

Do you mean when watching a video on the phone the audio lags behind 1 second?

Very common issue will Bluetooth speakers, and it’s likely the phone not the car. I’ve experienced this with androids, IPhones, iPads, using AirPods, jay-bird, plantronics headsets and a wide variety of other Bluetooth speakers.

I use an older LG G5 phone with no noticeable Bluetooth lag or connection issues with my 2015 Genesis.

Delay over Bluetooth is a normal occurrence. The standard uses buffering to eliminate interference and range fluctuations.

Use USB for higher quality real-time audio anyways.

I rebooted the navigation system a few times already, but it didn't do anything. I even contacted Hyundai and they patched me to BlueLink and they couldn't help me either. Their advice was to restart the unit! (Oh, well, why didn't I think of that? -_-)

I hope I'm wrong, but as far as I know you can't connect a phone via USB to play music, that's only possible with a USB stick.

I guess AUX is always an option, but then you lose all the control integration.

Yeah, if I'm watching a videos on YouTube, you can see that the video is not in sync with the mouths of the people

Anytime I play a video on YouTube, the video is not synced with the Audio. You can see their mouths moving, but it doesn't match. I tried Netflix and Amazon prime video to see if it was the YouTube app, but the other two apps did the same thing.

I use USB, but I have YouTube Premium and I also like to listen to more content than just what I have on my USB.

he means plug the phone into USB so you don't experience the lag.

though frankly we should not be promoting the watching of youtube or any other service while driving.

Plugging in the USB won't work. It only works if I use the Aux cable, but the whole point of Bluetooth is that it's wireless. I'll need to go to the dealership and see what they say.

they won't be able to help, this is a common problem do to the buffering as mentioned, and it is more likely the phone not the car.

and I am not sure why USB would not work, works on my 2018 without issue. I typically sit and watch Netflix or Dish Anywhere while waiting for my kid when picking her up at school, and I have no issue with sound over car system through usb and video on the phone.

Try lowering the video quality. The higher the audio fidelity over Bluetooth, the more likely you are to experience some type of lag in audio. This happens to me when listening to my music over Bluetooth. Since I was using spotify, I was able to lower the audio quality in the options, and the lag problem was fixed. But I prefer the higher quality, so I just use the aux cable for music.

does the 2015-2016 play audio over USB?
Only via USB stick as far as I know :/

When I plug in my Android phone (Galaxy S9) the phone just tells me that the attached device can't read files due to compatibility issues or whatever.

Yeah, this head unit has all kinds of silly oversights. One of my favorites is the way it defaults back to Sirius upon startup if you were using Bluetooth the last time you turned the car off. Gotta love hearing that stupid '[HISSSSSSSSSS] WHY ARE YOU LISTENING TO THE PREVIEW CHANNEL!? SIGN UP NOW TO MAKE THIS ANNOYING NOISE GO AWAY!!!"

Then you press the Mode button, but it hasn't finished connecting to your device so you end up on FM and have to cycle through everything again

Edit: Decided to look up a "solution" to this and it sounds like there's a Channel 0 you can switch to on Sirius that has nothing playing (not even an advertisement), guess I'll be trying that when I get back to my car. I still wish it would just stay on Bluetooth until my phone is connected...

When you start up, Bluetooth is not available although Sirius is. So what do you propose to do while waiting for Bluetooth? Play nothing? And how long should it wait for Bluetooth, suppose there is no Bluetooth the next time you start up? I’m not so sure all this was an oversight as much as a compromise in the programming to reduce the complexity of the decision-making. When the psychic upgrade comes out you won’t have this problem.

AM/FM/XM are all part of the "source" selection, if you put it on FM then switch to BT, the next time you restart the car it will be on FM not XM. at least that is how mine functions.. it never comes up on XM, only FM or Jukebox if that was my last source listened too.

USB/BT/CARPLAY are media selections, they take a bit to boot up after the radio itself boots. since I always use carplay, mine goes to FM until carplay connects, then it auto switches to carplay.
