  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bluetooth Lag on Ultimate

Psychic upgrade! Where do I sign up?

AM/FM/XM are all part of the "source" selection, if you put it on FM then switch to BT, the next time you restart the car it will be on FM not XM. at least that is how mine functions.. it never comes up on XM, only FM or Jukebox if that was my last source listened too.

I guess I am not understanding your point. Kon mentioned that his defaulted to Sirius so that is what I was responding to. In general I think it will never default to Bluetooth since it isn’t present on startup. It will default to whatever source is available at startup and was the last source listen to, be it AM/FM/XM.

When you start up, Bluetooth is not available although Sirius is. So what do you propose to do while waiting for Bluetooth? Play nothing? And how long should it wait for Bluetooth, suppose there is no Bluetooth the next time you start up? I’m not so sure all this was an oversight as much as a compromise in the programming to reduce the complexity of the decision-making. When the psychic upgrade comes out you won’t have this problem.
Gee I dunno, maybe wait at least a few seconds for the Bluetooth device to connect, just like every other car on the planet that wasn't programmed by morons?

USB/BT/CARPLAY are media selections, they take a bit to boot up after the radio itself boots. since I always use carplay, mine goes to FM until carplay connects, then it auto switches to carplay.
Maybe it's because I use the MODE button, which means XM will always precede BT. In any case, the fact that the car isn't capable of staying on BT is idiotic regardless of what it reverts to on startup.

Try lowering the video quality. The higher the audio fidelity over Bluetooth, the more likely you are to experience some type of lag in audio. This happens to me when listening to my music over Bluetooth. Since I was using spotify, I was able to lower the audio quality in the options, and the lag problem was fixed. But I prefer the higher quality, so I just use the aux cable for music.
I'll need to try this.

my point is if the mode is on FM then he won't get static, he will actually hear music or whatever is on the FM station he is tuned to. stops the annoying XM ad issue.

Bluetooth is still going to take time to register, same as carplay does when wired, but at least it isn't pumping static or XM ads.

Got it now. You are right.

Only via USB stick as far as I know :/

When I plug in my Android phone (Galaxy S9) the phone just tells me that the attached device can't read files due to compatibility issues or whatever.

2015-2016 play phones over USB fine. If your Android device is throwing an error it's most likely an incompatible setting regarding USB security.

I'm guessing that's a Tech and not Ultimate? Not sure how to tell without seeing the dial...

It's an Ultimate. Jogdial 9.2" touch.

Another data point... My 2016 Ultimate works for music with both USB and Bluetooth with my iPhone 8. I will usually plug it in unless the ride is really short; otherwise I’ll just let the Bluetooth provide the connection. I do find the flashing streaming indicator on the media screen a little annoying.

The Bluetooth will auto play if I unplug and comeback to the car later. I do experience occasional toe stubs on the connection when the Bluetooth plays and I plug in following and the volume will remain muted, unless I replug it again. Otherwise it all seems to work well for me; and if you hadn’t realized it yet, you can also play DVD movies when parked - rare use for me but can fun when parked waiting on a passenger.

I don't watch movies in my car, I use my DVD drive for audio. The audio keeps playing when you're out of park, only the video shuts off. Buy this and enjoy the eargasm.

You likely missed it, but my screen name actually reflects my musical interest. I’m a longtime audiophile and am looking to pick up DVD-A discs specifically for the Genesis, but it looks like we’re chasing down different desert island discs. Thanks for the link all the same.
