If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I have a 2012 Genesis 5.0 Just switched to iPhone 12 Pro from Samsung 7. After some work with settings I managed to get BT pairing and have tested incoming and outgoing calls successfully. Thought everything was fine until I switched off car. When I start car again phone and car will not reconnect and car says it is still in the process of reconnecting and remains stuck that way. Phone says connection failed after trying. On the car I have BT auto connect switched on. Can only recover by switching off and on blue tooth etc. on phone and deleting phone on car and reinstalling everything. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi RG, I to have 15.3 iOS up date on my phone.

1) What do you mean (I "forgot" the BT device from my phone.)? Do you meant to turn it off on your phone?
2) You use a different name than before by "adding 1 character", to your name that you use before?
3) What and how do you do a "power reset" on your phone.

Sorry I am not very tech oriented, I do appreciated your help.

Thank you, Marty
Sorry Marty, i was too brief
lets start with the iPhone settings: (I'm doing this with my iPhone 12 mini iOS 15.3)
1. from the Settings menu, go to the Bluetooth menu. here you will see a toggle switch to enable/disable Bluetooth and a list of your discovered (past paired) devices. Find your Genesis device. Mine was simply called "Genesis". If you select the info button on the far right (lower case i in a circle) it will pull up more details on the Genesis device. At the bottom of those details is an option to "Forget This Device", this removes the device pairing from your phones memory. It will give us a chance to wipe clean old digital remnants that were not working correctly. From the Bluetooth menu, you can select <Settings from the top left to go back to the Main Settings Menu.
2. Now scroll down a bit to the General Menu, then at the top select About. At the top will be the phones name. You can select the Name and it will allow you to change the phone's name. I just simply added a character to change my digital fingerprint. then select Done.
-->>What these changes are attempting to accomplish is to a) clear the old info of the bad pairing from memory, and b) change the face (name) for a new pairing so we start fresh.
3. The iPhone reset (not a complete factory reset) is just a the power off/on procedure for my 12 mini. Apple has an odd sequence for this phone. You press, in order, Volume up, Volume down, (both of the button on the left side) then hold the big button on the right. The power slider will appear on the top of the screen, slide to the right to shut down the phone. You will just hold the big button on the right until the apple logo appears to get it to start back up. this step was just a precautionary step again to clear out any old digital fingerprints of the old pairing.

You could just leave the phone off (or sufficient distance from the Genesis) while you go through the Bluetooth menu on the Genesis and Delete the old phone pairing from your car, then power up the phone and start anew with a fresh pairing. My thought was I didn't want the car digitally "seeing" the phone until I had a chance to clear out the old Bluetooth device pairing from the Genesis. I was also sick of hearing the "pairing failed" message.

I'm very happy not to have to delete and re-pair my phone for every trip now, it's never convenient to stop and repeat this, or I seldom had the extra 2.5 minutes of patience it required.

I have so many audiobooks and podcasts to get back to.... Good Luck!

Good description RedGenesis. So far, my pairing is working fine, just had one glitch where pairing dropped when I cancelled a call that didn't pick up. I suspect that upgrade 15.3 to the IOS has solved the problem but always worth starting with a clean slate.
Calling while driving is now a pleasure. 😀

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Have you updated the IOS to15.3 on your phone? That seems to fix the pairing for some of us.
Yes I did the up-date to 15.3. Did not work. I have to re-pair each time I start the car up.

Hmm, that is disappointing. My car model is 2012 Genesis 5.0. Some time ago the dealer did update the software on the car, but it has only worked successfully after I updated phone (iPhone 12 Pro Max) to IOS 15.3, and BT on car is set to auto connect.

Just to let ever one know I got it working. What I forgot to do was in Phone Settings, was to check "BT Autoconnection" Box. Once I did that, the phone would connect with the car. I calling from my home phone and it work. Use the car phone to call home and it work.
I tuning the car off and on several times, and the phone pairs with haft a minute automatically.

I would like thank you guys for all the help. Thats what this Forum is all about.

Best Regards, Marty
