  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can someone clerify the status of Bluetooth Streaming?

I've been reading the thread about the biggest problems with the genesis and just learned that Bluetooth Streaming doesnt work on the 2011 4.6 Genesis (w/Tech).

And that the IPOD interface is pretty horrible as it takes a long time for a full ipod to load up...so I was actually assuming that because of bluetooth streaming, I wouldnt have to put up with the ipod issues.

Oh, and someone said that the DVD's wont play while in motion.. is there any mod that will make this work? I understand that its a safety issue, but people can be responsible with it and its a great thing when you have kids in the car on long trips.

Which models/packages do support bluetooth streaming?

Thanks in advance..

I have created a couple of ~100-song playlists on my iPhone which are easy to use in the car. Spooling through from the whole band or album list is not fun, that's for sure. This seems like it could be a software upgrade? Who knows.

That said, optimal for me is, mp3s on a USB stick (8-gig sticks are <$20 now). I created folders by band because it gives me a chance to listen to full albums, but obviously it can be stored however you want. I did have to rename some files once I moved them onto the stick to be able to read them (ie, where the song name is preceded by the artist name), but I'd done a lot of that over the years already. Non-DRM iTunes downloads can be converted to mp3 with a right-click.

I chose to be selective with the bit count of what I put on the stick--mostly 196-320 kbps, and it sounds great in the car. As an aside, stuff ripped in from cds at lower bit counts I'm ripping back in at 320 over time.

By doing it this way I am able to have in the car plenty of worthwhile music easily accessible. With a copy of the whole thing on the computer, it's a good archive for portable use generally and I can add or subtract whenever, and just recopy to the stick.
