  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Out of curiosity, I'm still learning about my Gen, but I thought that the bluetooth in the car should work like using a bluetooth ear piece. That once you turn it on, you should be able to say "Call such and such" and it should look for that person on your phones "phone book". Instead I've been patiently (to the best of my abilities) adding people's names and numbers into the Gen's "phone book". Is adding names and numbers into the Gen's "phone book" really the only way to set it up to make calls or is there something I'm not aware of so I can just use my cell's "phone book"? Preciate yall's help.

If you have tech pkg. with the large knob in the consol then follow instructions starting on page 144 of navigation DIS manual. You should be able to download your complete contacts list in a about a minute. To make a call press the phone symbol on the steering wheel, wait for beep and say call ___(say name of your contact)_________.

that didn't work for my iphone 4, brought it in to the service and they said to call ATT. probably have to manually link it in.

I don't have the large rotary knob in front of the shifter, I have to push the button in the overhead to activate the bluetooth and make calls. I'm not too fond of the position since I'm 6'7", I have to bend down a bit to see where the buttons are in the overhead to push the correct one.
Tin, I have AT&T as well, the guys there said my car was the first they knew of that you had to load your phone book into the car rather than the bluetooth just linking directly to your phones phonebook to make calls. I also ended up having to buy a new phone as I found out my old phone's bluetooth was no longer operable.

What year of car are you talking about?

This is from page 164 of the DIS manual:
"The phonebook of the Driver Informatin System is independent from the phonebook of the mobile phone. Transfer of phonebook entries from the system to the mobile phone or vice versa is not possible"

Transfer from the phone to the DIS is possible on the '11 tech packages. I have done some research which suggests that the latest software version update (TSB 11-be-008 for the US) should bring the same functionality to the '09 and '10. I am still waiting for someone to confirm this as I am not aware of this update being available in Canada yet.
