  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am one of the last to get into smartphones, so I finally try to link my new I-phone to my 2009 Genesis sedan, premium package, and I don't think this car is set up for bluetooth. I pull up the original brochure which states ALL models are set up for bluetooth, but there are no instructions in the Users Manual. I search desperately online for help and find practically nothing. One set of instructions on the Hyundai site refers to the Talk button on the steering wheel, but I sure don't see any such button. Did Hyundai and the dealer lie in their brochures? What am I missing? I searched the forums here, but nothing started with the basics of where the pairing begins.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
There are several Bluetooth modules used on the Genesis - depending on model year and trim package. You won't find the instructions for Bluetooth in the basic owners manual either; it's a separate pamphlet. Look in the "billfold" package that contains the manuals, service info, warranty info, etc, for the Bluetooth manual.

My 2009 brochure says Bluetooth is standard on all trim levels for Genesis sedans sold in the US. Many Hyundais use a module in the ceiling, near the overhead light; it replaces the sunglass holder. Is that what the non-Tech sedans use?

I also have a Premium non-Tech (2010), and I too was mystified by how to activate the Bluetooth, as the owner's manual seems to be written for a different configuration. The 2010 has integrated Bluetooth, which does not feature the overhead unit. Unlike the Tech package, there is no Talk button on the steering wheel. You are in limbo-land. Nor did I have this separate Bluetooth manual MikeC refers to.

After stumbling around, I found that the audio menu, which is brought up by pushing in the knob on the right side of the radio, contains a selection for Bluetooth, and bringing up that menu reveals a selection "Pair". Engaging that will produce voice instructions that will get you on your way. After that, it's pretty intuitive.

Here's another thread on the subject I started when I was in your place:

You are far from being one of the last to get into a smartphone. I love my dumbphone. I only use it for talking. Yes, it is bluetooth, paired to the car, but a lovable dumbphone just the same. (Motorola SLVR L9). Works everywhere.

:D  :p

My 2009 non-tech Genesis 3.8 has been paired since I took delivery in July 2009 till yesterday with my Blackberry Storm. Last night I got my I-{hone and will go back to pair it this morning.

My question is about a bluetooth upgrade. The system on my Genesis does not download the contacts from my phone and limits me to a small number of contacts which must be manually entered. Does anyone know if there is a software upgrade available so my Genesis will be able to download as I've abot 150 contacts and do spend almost two hours a day commuting in the car.
