  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai have announced a "national freeze"*on the sale of bras. Le Bra doesn't offer one. Here in sunny florida I spent half an hour cleaning bugs off the car after a 100 mile daytime drive.
Anyone know of another source or why Hyundai stopped supplying them?
it will soon be love bug season and the acid eats right thru the clearcoat within 24 hours.

In all of my experience bras do more harm than good. They rub too much and contribute to paint fading. Let's not even think about what happens when a rock or stick gets under one....

I used a bra on a car once. Never again. It left marks on the paint, plus the paint under the bra was brighter than the paint that saw the sunshine. Just not worth it.

As for the "Love Bugs", what I do is I cover the entire front of the car with a Love Bug Screen. I buy them in Walmart or in autoparts stores. Clip each end in each wheel well. Although it does not do anything for the looks of the car, it keeps the bugs off the paint and out of the radiator. In addition, when I was up in Penfield last May, it was "Cotton Wood" season. The fluffy stuff of those trees was everywhere. Although I keep a screen directly in front of the radiator, I also installed the love bug screen and it got loades with the white Cotton Wood fluff.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
To do it properly, you want the Venture Shield clear bra. It aint cheap, but it's a much better long term solution. The black bras you put on the front are ghetto.

But for just a road trip, don't you think a bra would be appropriate. I, too, would like a bra for mine, specifically for a road trip here and there without spending an extra 30 minutes cleaning the front end of the car when I get home.

I hear you on the dried acidic buggy guts, tree sap, etc... I have tried many many things, bras included. For me the easiest long term & most problem free, low maintence solution was to put some tough ass shit on my cars finish that will not allow those evil critters to penetrate the finish in the 1st place. They easily just wash off without etching. Below is the link. Hope this helps. I would recommend that you call and talk to a tech person there directly to ask questions before any ordering.

There's just way too much frontal area not to have some type of protection on a Genesis. On my last three cars- I have purchased various brands of car bras and have been very happy with the results. But as some others have said - it makes the Genesis look "ghetto." So tomorrow I'm going to visit my local 3M Ventureshield dealer/installer and see if I'm still conscious after he quotes me a price.(lol)

Yow! $699 plus $123 for headlights and another $58 to tuck under instead of edges on corners. That's over $900. I gotta rethink this one(LOL)!

Since my original posting I have been using a colgan bra with great results. I used Griots Best of show wax on the car before installing the bra and have no problem with paint scratching, fading etc. Every couple of months I remove the upper bra and give the whole hood a good waxing. The bottom half does a great job of trapping love bugs and they just brush off. I paid $176 with the sensor cut outs

Have a clear bra installed.
I have it installed on all my toys.
Works
great and will never wear away the paint..
Bugs come off easy!

Its now three years since I bought my colgan bra for my 2010 and its still working fine. I remove it every 6 months to check the paint and there has been no discoloration, rub marks etc. The love bugs here in Florida will eat right through paint if left on the car and it used to take me ages working on that complicated front end. Now I can literally brush them off with my hand.I believe the red color scheme was more expensive, so maybe its tougher stuff. However I also had a bra on a mercury marquis and a Probe turbo for several years with no problem.Only thing that happens over time is some of the straps stretch and have to be shortened.I don't think the ban on bras can be due to overheating as I live in the hottest part of Florida and it often idles while I go into the local store for a few minutes.
