  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, I received through the mail a recall for I believe brake line on my 2012 RSpec. Has anyone else received this recall and what services were done to correct the issue, if any?
Thanks.

Nothing here either.

Maybe it is the TSB for the brake fluid replacement? They are running a campaign to replace the DOT 3 fluid with DOT 4.

No, this literally is breaking news:
http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/04/04/hyundai-and-kia-recalling-1-million-cars/

Has to do with the cruise control not properly disengaging and brake lamps not illuminating.

The 4 door sedan is not on the list, but the coupe is.

"Hyundai and Kia will notify owners and dealers will replace the switches free of charge. Kia will send notifications in May, while Hyundai expects to send them in June, after enough replacement parts are shipped to dealers."

I imagine that their June notification is built around their more popular cars. They may already have parts for the genesis in so that's why you were notified? I'm not sure how their system actually works so I may be guessing/wrong.

edit: there are many conflicting lists depending on what news source you read. if someone can find a master list from Hyundai that would be nice, I've been unsuccessful in finding it though.

There is a TSB for brake fluid flush/upgrade to DOT4, but it is not a mandatory recall. It is mandatory that the dealer do it if your car is in shop for any reason, but Hyundai is not pro-actively notifying people. If you got an email, it was probably from the dealer, and not Hyundai. Some dealers are sending out notices, because they think you will end up getting extra services (oil changes, etc) not covered by the warranty.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Just a little note here: The brakes feel better IMHO.

Also, the brake limit switch recall is so new to the dealers, they don't have a final list of cars that need the switch replaced

He's talking about something else. There is an actual recall for brake related issues now. Completely different issue as far as I can tell though.

got the fluid TSB done yesterday; asked about others. svc mgr said there was a recent brake-oriented recall but sedan wasn't in the mix as far as he'd been told.

and +1 @ OFG ... brakes "feel" different ... in my case, less grabby.

I realize that some posts above are talking about an actual recall that is different than the fluid issue. But that actual recall does not apply to Genesis Sedan, so if someone got a letter in the mail, it was not from Hyundai. Note that Hyundai is not the same as a Hyundai Dealer.

How about quoting to us the text of what you received in the letter? Then, we wouldn't have to run around in circles shouting "The sky is falling!"

Ah, my misunderstanding :)
