  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Brake Pulsing, 2022, GV70, 3.5

I will be bringing my issue up again with the dealer. But has anyone installed aftermarket pads for their Brembos? I read good things on the G70 forums (for those who also have the larger breaks) about the following:

Any thoughts?

Update:
It took a few months are haggling? But Genesis Corporate agreed to refund the $900 or bucks I had to shell out to the dealership to replace the rotors and pads. Interestingly, during the haggling, I was made aware that the original owner had the same brake issues before I bought this 'dealer-certified' vehicle. Hmmmm.

And, another dealership I started using across the border NY state this past fall (fantastic dealership by the way) suddenly
decided to drop the Genesis line; another one bites the dust.

So, I have a 'dealer certified' vehicle, with a warranty, and a pre-paid oil change and tire rotation plan, and can't find a dealership that is willing to service this vehicle. Hmmmm.

I paid as much for this certified 2022 model as you would have paid for a brand-new 2023 model. Why? Hmmmm.

I gotta guess I've owned more than 35 cars in my lifetime. Domestic, foreign, family, sports, old, new, etc. I'm gonna say, looking back
that I've had fewer issues and frustration buying and owning something used, without a warranty as opposed to something new or used with a warranty. Why. Well, it's obvious. The less you pay the less you expect.

Update on front brakes pulsating.
Dealer put on new rotors and pads last year.
Problem is back (started again a few months later) when brakes warm up on highway brakes pulse.
When brakes cool down driving at city speeds brakes do not pulse.

Is there an aftermarket bolt on rotor and brake pad for a 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige with 21" wheels that does not
have this problem?

This was an ongoing, recurrent issue with me. The dealer did the same as in your case (replaced rotors and pads x 2). At 23,000 miles, I decided to circumvent their recommendations and replace the pads independently. I purchased the pads below (see links) and have not had an issue since.

The shuddering is a pad issue. Over time, the OEM pads leave residue/deposits on the rotors, which causes the problem. I'm at 36,000 miles. When I installed these pads, the rotors were still pretty new, so I didn't change or resurface them.

Thanks for the suggestion Zeus. I'll check the pads out and report back.

Looks like those pads for the front are not available and no restocking date from the manufacturer is available.

Put on the Dynamic Friction Pads last week.
The rotors are 10 months old, very clean, look like new.
Calipers were clean.

Took it for a 300 mile highway trip.
Same problem. When you get up to highway speeds the brakes shudder.
If I'm driving locally or at low speeds, no problem.

I replaced the front and rear rotors on my 2024 at roughly 33k miles. They had been turned at the dealer once or twice already due to being warped.

I am no engineer, but the problem seem to be the fact the "hat" on the rotor is made of aluminum. I have a customer that manufactures brake rotors for quite a few companies and they laughed when I said that. Aluminum absorbs heat. Throw in water, snow, etc and it is a mess. I have seen rotors that use a stainless steel hat that is pretty thin, but SS does not absorb heat.

Either way, the new rotors are all cast. They weigh a bit more, but that beats my steering wheel shanking and/or the pedal pulsating.
