If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I already posted about this in the "Wheels, Tires, Brakes and Suspension"area, but thought maybe I would cross-post in the performance section since it really has more to do with performance and longevity of the rotors when driving the car super hard.

Here is my original post:
G80 Sport - High performance replacement rotors / brakes

I'm not sure if anyone else has run into this or experienced the rotor wear I am, but I do know it has a lot to do with how hard I have braked from triple digit speeds that I have no doubt is heating up the rotors to the point they are warping/getting-out-of-round. I just don't know what the solution is to get better life out of them. 6K miles between rotor replacement to have it happen again (and I was being more gentle after the first set because I knew it would happen again) is not great to think about.

Hoping there is something out there more designed for track-like use and abuse.

While I am still very curious about whether or not anyone has replaced their OEM brake components with any aftermarket "upgrades", I did find this post over on a Kia forum (these cars are so similar) and this makes a LOT of sense!
FAQ: Vibration under braking: warped rotors? NO!

I will have to figure out a place I can try the "fix" they recommend, which won't be easy, and will try to remember to report back with my findings.

While this thread seems to be getting looked at by other members, it doesn't seem anyone has either tried upgrading their brakes, or perhaps isn't experiencing the same issues I have been with the stock brakes.

I haven't been able to figure out if the Stinger GT's brakes are truly the same, and therefore would be able to also use anything labeled for the Stinger, but I will continue to try and investigate that.

I found this online store (carid dot com) has several brake components for the "Genesis G80", but most things only list the 3.8 / 5.0 and not the 3.3T in the Sport. I have no idea if they are all interchangeable, but these might be some options:

Also, all of the Brembo "Kits" on that site show G80 RWD, and I have an AWD... so not sure if they would work on mine or not.

And why the HELL are most of the rotors drilled/slotted??? There are many authoritative resources that show it is not only unnecessary, but often weakens the rotors and causes faster pad wear. Formula1 cars do not use drilled or slotted rotors, and if either of those had ANY benefit you can bet they would use them. Many sources actually point to the fact that plain solid vented rotors are the best at dissipating, as well as taking, high temps.

At any rate, this set of rotors and pads (EBC® - Stage 9 Super Sleeper Slotted Front Brake Kit) seems like it might be a way to go... but I'd love to know more about them. Would hate to spend all this money and still wind up with the same problems.

Is anyone else experiencing issue with the G80 Sport brakes? Or am I the only hooligan? 😂

Hey everyone so I’m almost a year in owning my G80 Sport and I drive the car hard. I’m trying to prepare myself to eventually replacing my brakes rotors/pads and I’m not sure if I want to go with OEMs even though they are great but man do they cause lots of dust. Anyone seen or has replaced their brakes with aramid or ceramic or carbon? Any input is welcome.

I have a full set of Stoptech Rotors, pads, and stainless brake lines and it's a pretty nice setup. OEM brakes would seem to last 100,000+ for most people, but I was looking for further performance than the OEM could handle with the heat.

Using Stoptech's street pads and they are pretty good on brake dust, although the factory pads didn't really produce any brake dust. Sounds as if your car uses different pads than my 2009 had since you have a lot of dust.

I have been using maxbrakes Elite series for years. They are G3500 grade iron. Great brakes and do not warp

I went with EBC dimples and slotted rotors with Red Stuff so far I don’t know if I made the right choice. My brakes make noise while I drive slightly.

I have a 2019 G70 twin turbo, and have all 4 rotors warped at 11,000kms, not driving super hard a lot. Of course there are times when I do drive fast and have to brake hard. They are replacing under warranty (car now has 19,000 kms) however. I have not heard from the 'dealer' if this is a recurring thing with Genesis.

Same issue, machined once, vibration came back. 21,000km. Going to bring this up next service. I heard one of the brake pad part numbers is discontinued, presumably related to this issue.

Can anyone confirm the standard brake pads are discountinued?

I seem to have the same issue as dslade5608!!

My 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T Sport has been sitting at the dealership for more than 4 weeks waiting for warranty replacement of all 4 of my warped rotors.
My G70 currently has only about 9,500 miles on it and this is the 3rd trip to the dealership due to this same vibration / brake issue. A 'service bulletin' for this Brembo/Genesis Rotor vibration and/or warping issue was finally issued for this Known Issue meaning Genesis is well aware of the issue and you would think they would have sent some spare parts to the USA for this KNOWN ISSUE, but sadly this does not seem to be the case and my car is just sitting there and it has been more than 4 weeks. still needing parts that Genesis can not provide while I'm stuck paying my monthly lease payment to Genesis Finance.

The problem started when the car had less than 1k miles on it and just got worse over time. Dealership has been great but Genesis just isn't prepared to ship replacement parts so the only thing I can do is keep paying my massive monthly lease payment while having no ability to drive my car that I love so much.

Do you have a G70 3.3 loaner in the meantime?

To answer your question: No, I do not have a Genesis loaner in the meantime.

To be clear I want to state again that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS CAR and miss driving it, it is just an Amazing drivers car.. hands down amazing!! My hopes are that this long and drawn out frustrating and expensive issue will bring light to issues the New Genesis brand is understandably having with their operations.
There are many shortcomings and my hopes are that Genesis can use this info to fix huge gaps in their operations / communications to avoid potentially upsetting countless current and future customers.

UPDATE: Car sitting at dealership for over 1 month now. There is ZERO update from Genesis Motors America (GMA), parts departments, or from National.

Since nobody seems to be able to make Any progress or get Any info on when they will have these parts my Genesis dealership had to open a case with Genesis Motors of America weeks ago to push them to get these parts etc. No Update from GMA.

Since there was no update from their side I had to call GMA to complain myself and open another case from the consumer side, which I did last week. I was told that it would take 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS to even get back to me about my newly opened case. I waited 3 business days with no call back so I checked in with them today and I was told that 'National got back to them and requested more info' so it would be ANOTHER 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS. If I would not have called them to check in on the status they would have been late getting back to me (past the 3-5 business days) with no updates and just leaving me hanging.
Genesis NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BROKEN SYSTEM.

I asked if there is Anything I can do to get a call back instead of waiting yes ANOTHER 3-5 business days... or talk to Anyone about this ongoing problem. The answer from GMA: 'nobody, there is nobody you can talk to and we do not have a phone number for our National department which is the department that needs to get back to you.'

Due to the lack of effort, communication, status, or anything resembling 'progress' I went ahead and spent hours tracking down these exact parts (Brake Rotors) myself, I not only found them, I found them in the USA at a Kia dealership (if you are not aware: the Genesis G70 and Kia Stinger are a 'shared platform' between Kia and Genesis and share almost all parts... so, I let GMA know where to find the parts and that they are available 'today', since they don't seem to be able to have any 'in stock' in the USA or Korea or anywhere else.

I am sure Genesis can get over these growing pains and continue to build their Premium Brand, this experience is being shared to hopefully allow GMA and National to clearly understand these issues and whatnot.

Hi all,

Quick question: where are you able to see the Front rotor sets? I see mostly back Rotors and only pads for the front. I got a 3.8L 2018 model and need to upgrade the brakes. I looked at StopTech & maxbrakes Elite. Any guide or links would be helpful. Thanks.

Any company that would be a upgrade over OE brakes would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if your car uses the same rotors, but for the G70 3.3 Turbo the Genesis Part number I was given by their parts department was
Front Brembo Rotor is Genesis (Hyundai) PART # 51712-J5500 which is a 17" rotor
however, when I research online I can see there is also a 51712-J5550 which is a 18" rotor for 'ultimate' package.

Rear Brembo Rotor PART # 58411-J500 However, when I look into this deeper it seems this is the 'rear assembly' including rotor + pad. It seems that almost all parts sellers list the front rotor but not the rear for some reason.

Have you checked out Zeckhausen Racing they carry Centric products for the G80 models. EBC carries a range of rotors for the G80 too.

As for pads, EBC and Centric has aftermarket options.

Personally, unless you're going for drilled or slotted or a combination of both, I'll stick with the stock rotors.

Pad wise, I've got lots of fun with EBC Yellowstuffs and had problems with Centric Posi Quiet.

The latter went totally soft during a moderate speed (80mph) downhill run and my pedals went all the way down to the floorboard. Investigated the whole brake system, master cylinder, brake booster, hoses etc only to realize that the problem was due to the pads. And this happened to 2 sets of pads, bought and installed at different times and used on different roads/situations/speeds.

I'm assuming you're running Brembo on your G70.

Check the part number on your pads, if you're running 58101-J5A51 and 58302-J5A50 in the front and rear respectively, consider replacing them with 58101-J5A55 and 58302-J5A55 in the front and rear respectively.

They're Euro spec and are known to bite better but dust more than US spec.

Yup mine has 24000km and grooved and warn not happy about replacing them.

I have 19K miles on my G70 3.3t and the front rotors have already been turned twice. I think the total brake package is too small for this car. Not happy about them needing to be replaced with only 19k miles.
