  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Brake Rotor upgrade/replacement recommendations?

Same issue, machined once, vibration came back. 21,000km. Going to bring this up next service. I heard one of the brake pad part numbers is discontinued, presumably related to this issue.

Can anyone confirm the standard brake pads are discountinued?
Totally agree. MY front rotors have been turned twice and warped again. My G70 only has 19k miles.

The brakes on the car, pads and rotors specifically, are garbage IMO. They are the first aftermarket thing i`m spending money on when warranty is out or I`ve had it with the stock product. This is coming from a guy who`s had more brake-work done on his car than any three people on this forum combined i`m betting (all under warranty).

How did you get it all replaced under warranty. Canada doesn’t have any TSBs out for brakes. The US does. My dealership is asking me to pay to replace pads and resurface rotors

placed vehicle in park opened door to exit before mt other foot could get out vehicle started to roll down driveway crossed 4 lanes of traffic hit neighbor's high bushes- is this a recognized defect

Huh? So it really didn't go into Park?

Hope no one got hurt.

My primary symptom was a soft to extremely soft brake pedal. (Spoiler - It was the pads or combination of pads/rotors). To try and fix this very obvious problem took Genesis months, machined rotors, then replaced rotors and pads, etc. I would say "lucky" but the brakes are still shit with vibration. Nearing the point of buying rotors/pads in the spring.

Guys, you're wasting your time having the rotors turned or replaced. THE PROBLEM IS THE CRAPPY PADS. They can't handle the heat and are leaving uneven deposits on the rotors. They aren't warping.
Until you replace the pads with better pads, such as the "Euro" pads (for the G70), the vibration will keep coming back as soon as you brake hard. Check out the thread on brake vibration in the G70 section of this forum, it's well documented. Car and Driver had severe brake fade on the first lap on a track (I can never remember if it was the Stinger or the G70, but the brakes are the same) but once they put on the better pads the car was fine, even on the track.
It's too bad that Genesis will keep going through the trouble and expense of turning or replacing the rotors, but won't pony up for better pads. It's such a waste and by now they should have this figured out. It's not only a nuisance and waste of their customer's time and money, it's hurting their reputation because this problem is so widespread on numerous models.

I am new to the forum. Just purchased a 2020 G70 2.0 AWD with Elite Package. Trying to upgrade to Brembo. Where and how do I find the right rotors from this upgrade?

I already posted about this in the "Wheels, Tires, Brakes and Suspension"area, but thought maybe I would cross-post in the performance section since it really has more to do with performance and longevity of the rotors when driving the car super hard.

Here is my original post:
G80 Sport - High performance replacement rotors / brakes

I'm not sure if anyone else has run into this or experienced the rotor wear I am, but I do know it has a lot to do with how hard I have braked from triple digit speeds that I have no doubt is heating up the rotors to the point they are warping/getting-out-of-round. I just don't know what the solution is to get better life out of them. 6K miles between rotor replacement to have it happen again (and I was being more gentle after the first set because I knew it would happen again) is not great to think about.

Hoping there is something out there more designed for track-like use and abuse.
It has nothing to do with hard braking. I've had my rotors turned 3 times before replacing them. The new rotors also warped within 5k miles. Just a bad design which Genesis will not warranty.
