  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello Guys,

I have a strange issue with my car (brand new G70 2.0T 2019), after completing 1.5km I was trying acceleration with my friend, he was driving his car behind me, he told me that he saw a light grey and thin smoke form my exhaust.

is this normal? Is it all Genesis G70 have this kind of smoke?

What it's your advices? What should I do?

Grey/blue smoke is usually burnt oil. Not normally a great sign and something you should get checked out

The only thing you should see is water vapor from a cold start. If it is truly smoke, you have a problem. The only cars that smoke are the ones bur ing oil and it should not be you.

Be sure the car is well warmed up (engine and cat conv) and try it again.

was it really grey or was it white? most cars puff white "smoke" which is actually steam from condensation built up in the exhaust system, it's normal and harmless and typically goes away once the vehicle is fully warmed up,.

In an engine running perfectly, the only components of the exhaust are:
  • Nitrogen
  • Carbon dioxide
  • Water vapor
On a cold day as others said, what you're seeing is the water vapor condensing into droplets, producing visible white "steam".

Otherwise exhaust shouldn't be visible. Visible grey or black exhaust means particulates of unburned hydrocarbons - "soot".

Hard acceleration is going to make gray smoke, even on a healthy engine. Under burnt hydrocarbons. It's normal. If this is just mild acceleration, it' be concerned.

If it's blue tinted, or mostly white, those are different (oil/water) as stated previously.

This. Keep in mind that the 3.3 runs pretty dang rich under WOT. AFR's are like 8:1 to 9:1 or something ridiculous like that. I wouldn't be surprised if there is always a puff of smoke coming out each time you floor it.

Could also be a blown head gasket althought that seems unlikely with a new car. I would top off the radiator and then check it again a few days later to see if the coolant has gone down. With a blown gasket, radiator water leaks into the engine, cause white smoke when you let off on the gas. As I remember from a Ford I had several years ago, it also made the engine oil a green color.

Could it be residual left from the assembly process that needs to burn off?
