  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a brand new GV70 (about 2 months old). 2 weeks ago I woke up Saturday morning and the car was dead. No response whatsoever. I jumped it with my wife's car and it seemed good to go. The next morning, same thing. Then again the following morning and at lunch that same day. It appeared after about 4 hours of idle, the car was completely dead and needed a jump.

I took it to the local dealer (after jumping it). They tested the battery and it passed all tests. They said they would leave it overnight and test the next morning. Again, it "started strong" (in their words) so I took it back. The following Saturday I woke up, and of course, same thing, car dead.

This time I recorded a video of the car attempting to start pre-jump (with no response), and then starting during jump (which struggles). I drove to the new dealer (thinking the other one didn't take the proper time) and showed him the video. I wanted him to see that in case it does the same thing and "starts strong" he had seen what is actually happening.

Later that day the service tech called and said it was clear it was a bad battery. They replaced it and said they wanted to leave it overnight to confirm there wasn't anything else. Luckily, the next morning the car didn't start again (even with the new battery). They looked deeper and found that there was a "faulty neutral" (or on the write up it was essentially a lose wire) that was causing the drain. They said they fixed it, tested it again, and it finally looked good to go.

That was on Tuesday. This morning (Sunday), the car is again dead!

Has anybody ever heard of this? What could be the issue? Is this a lemon?
