  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just purchased a new Genesis Sedan and after searching the owners manual I do not find break in recommendation.

This is Hyundai Number #14 for me and all the others recommended 600 miles.

I have built many engines in my younger days and I always varied the speed for the first 1,000 miles.

Open to suggestions.

Thank You

Jack

SOP is usually to vary the speed and don't mash the brakes for about that mileage. I would also omit drag racing for a while too.
Too many folks overlook gentle braking and end up with warped rotors.

my salesman said there was break in period
so after going 100 on an undisclosed empty roadway
i can say it has a very smooth ride felt like 60

Here is the break-in information from the manual

As you put miles on your new Genesis you will also notice the exhaust note will change around 2000 miles. Drive it like you stole it after the break in. You will also notice poorer fuel mileage during the break-in period. It improves over time. On average I get around 21 mpg with my 5.0 in mixed city/highway driving. Not bad for a car with 420 hp. I burn Mobil Super Unleaded now full time. Worth the few extra penny's per gallon and on average improved the fuel mileage to offset the cost.

Pretty funny. They say that NO break-in period is required, but then they go on to describe one.
